Charli XCX and George Daniel Tie the Knot in Surprise Ceremony and Second Celebration
Charli XCX and The 1975’s George Daniel transitioned from musical collaborators to a Hollywood romance.
The pair initially connected while working on the March 2021 song “Spinning.” Daniel also provided assistance to the “Boom Clap” singer on various tracks for her Crash album, which was released in March 2022. Dating rumors began shortly thereafter, and the couple were subsequently photographed holding hands during a romantic outing in New York City.
Charli publicly revealed her relationship with The 1975 drummer in May of that year with an Instagram photo. He has since made occasional appearances on her social media pages. Daniel, who rarely uses social media, therefore shares few posts featuring Charli on his own accounts.
While the couple maintain a relatively private relationship, Charli briefly discussed how being with Daniel has enabled her to shift her approach to creating music.

“Now that I’m in a relationship with another musician, he’s significantly influenced me with his creative process and how he and his band operate,” she told The Sun in May 2023. “It’s quite different from how I typically work, and that has certainly impacted me and my process.”
Six months later, the duo announced that they had advanced their relationship when Daniel proposed.
Following the engagement announcement, Daniel’s bandmate Matty Healy left a heartfelt comment in response to their love. “I’m crying,” he wrote.

The two singers quietly exchanged vows on July 19, according to online footage shared at the time. Charli, who wore an off-the-shoulder white gown, shared dressing room pictures onto her TikTok page after the ceremony.
“When George isn’t crying when he sees me walking down the aisle,” she quipped, later adding, “Luckily, he did xx.”

The couple celebrated their marriage again at Tonnara Di Scopello in the village of Scopello, Sicily, per Just Jared. The pair reportedly walked down the aisle to Enrique Iglesias’ “Hero,” with Daniel wearing a custom suit created by Carter Young.
