2025 A Year of Loss Remembering Entertainment's Departed Icons
The entertainment industry bid farewell to several iconic figures throughout 2025.
During the initial six months of the year, the unfortunate passing of celebrated names like David Lynch, Michelle Trachtenberg, George Foreman, Val Kilmer, and Duck Dynasty personality Phil Robertson was reported.
The warmer months marked the departure of figures such as Anne Burrell, Ozzy Osbourne, Hulk Hogan, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and Brandon Blackstock. The month of September was notable for the passing of screen legend Robert Redford.
October witnessed the demise of renowned zoologist Jane Goodall, acclaimed actress Diane Keaton, Grammy-winning R&B artist D’Angelo, among others. Subsequently, in November, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed at 24 years old, and Oscar-nominated actress Pauline Collins, 85, succumbed following her struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
The month of November commenced with the passing of performer Sally Kirkland and ex-ABC News correspondent Jim Avila, followed by the death of singer-songwriter Todd Snider towards the end of the month.
