2025 A Year of Unforgettable Farewells in Entertainment
The entertainment world bid farewell to several iconic figures throughout 2025.
During the initial six months, we received the somber announcements of the passing of visionary director David Lynch, actress Michelle Trachtenberg, boxing legend George Foreman, acclaimed actor Val Kilmer, and Duck Dynasty personality Phil Robertson.
The summer months witnessed the departures of culinary personality Anne Burrell, rock icon Ozzy Osbourne, wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, beloved actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and talent manager Brandon Blackstock. As September arrived, the cinematic icon Robert Redford also passed away.
October saw the passing of renowned primatologist Jane Goodall, cinematic legend Diane Keaton, Grammy-winning R&B artist D’Angelo, among others. The subsequent month, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed at 24, and Oscar-nominated actress Pauline Collins, 85, succumbed to Parkinson's disease.
The start of November marked the passing of veteran actress Sally Kirkland and former ABC News correspondent Jim Avila; additionally, musician Gary “Mani” Mounfield and Prince collaborator Jellybean Johnson also left us. Towards the end of November, German character actor Udo Kier, reggae icon Jimmy Cliff, and esteemed playwright Tom Stoppard also passed on.
