2025 Remembered A Year of Icon Departures and Enduring Legacies
The entertainment world commemorated the passing of several iconic figures throughout 2025.
During the initial six months of the year, we received the somber announcements of the demise of David Lynch, Michelle Trachtenberg, George Foreman, Val Kilmer, and the beloved Duck Dynasty personality Phil Robertson.
Throughout the summer months, the world bid farewell to Anne Burrell, Ozzy Osbourne, Hulk Hogan, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and Brandon Blackstock. September marked the passing of esteemed actor Robert Redford.
October saw the departure of renowned zoologist Jane Goodall, acclaimed actress Diane Keaton, Grammy-winning R&B artist D’Angelo, among others. The subsequent month, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed at 24, and Oscar-nominated actress Pauline Collins, 85, succumbed to Parkinson’s disease.
The month of November commenced with the passing of actress Sally Kirkland and ex-ABC News correspondent Jim Avila; additionally, musician Gary “Mani” Mounfield and Prince collaborator Jellybean Johnson also departed. Toward the close of November, German actor Udo Kier and musical icon Jimmy Cliff likewise passed away.
