Aaron Phypers' Mother Claims Denise Richards Threw Can Opener During Marriage
Patricia Phypers, the mother of Aaron Phypers, gave testimony claiming she saw Denise Richards assault her son while they were married, according to Us Weekly.
During proceedings on Friday, October 17, Aaron summoned his mother to testify, as he is currently contesting Richards’ petition for a lasting restraining order against him.
Under examination, Patricia stated that approximately two years prior, she observed Richards, 54, assault Aaron, 53. Patricia claimed, “It happened at their residence in Calabasas. She hurled a can opener.”
Patricia affirmed she never witnessed Aaron mistreat Richards or make any threats towards her.
While testifying, Patricia also addressed the August 3 incident involving Richards. As Us had earlier disclosed, authorities were summoned when Richards appeared at the house she once cohabited with Aaron.
Richards relocated from the property in 2023 to her own residence, yet she asserts that she continued to cover the expenses for the former marital home. Currently, Aaron, along with his brother and parents, resides there.
The former RHOBH cast member arrived at the house to retrieve some belongings, but Aaron contacted law enforcement because a temporary restraining order was active, barring any interaction between them.
In court, Patricia recounted that Aaron departed the residence “swiftly” upon discovering Richards’ arrival.
Patricia stated, “He wasn’t present. He had gone. He feared legal repercussions due to the [temporary restraining order].”
Aaron’s mother explained she did not observe his departure because Richards was “making threats and banging on the door.”

Subsequently, Patricia was queried about how she would characterize Aaron’s conduct throughout their marriage.
She responded, “He harbored profound affection for her.” During the opposing counsel’s questioning, Richards’ legal team introduced text messages exchanged between Richards and Patricia, her former mother-in-law.
An alleged message, from January 1, 2023, stated, “I don’t approve of his actions, as you are aware, but he has supported Lola previously when she required him.” Patricia acknowledged sending the text but claimed no recollection of its surrounding circumstances.
She further commented, “I am unsure of the subject of our discussion. I cannot provide testimony on something without having the full context.”
A different purported text exchange between her and Richards conveyed, “I’m not sure if he does. We don’t revisit it. He is aware that he lost control.”
Patricia stated, “I haven’t a clue. It could have pertained to anything. Perhaps it was about a dog urinating throughout the residence. I simply don’t recall.”

She continued, “I really don’t know. It’s devoid of context.” She added, “I am expected to possess all information before making a statement, so I cannot confirm.”
As Us had earlier revealed, the court proceedings commenced on October 6 and have extended over multiple days. Aaron has not yet presented all of his intended witnesses.
In her testimony, Richards asserted that Aaron had been abusive towards her on several instances. She recounted a May incident where she alleged he “struck the top of my head with the palm of his hand” while she was recuperating from an operation in a hotel suite.

Aaron’s cousin, Kathleen McAllister, a former colleague, asserted that she observed him assault Richards in January 2022.
Conversely, Aaron disputed his cousin’s claim of witnessing him strike Richards, instead stating that the actress accidentally collided with a pole on that particular day. He informed the court that he never made physical contact with Richards nor ever issued threats of harm against her.
Aaron had previously communicated to Us, “These allegations are entirely unfounded and profoundly distressing. Denise and I, similar to numerous other couples, encountered our difficulties, but any insinuation of abuse is unequivocally inaccurate.”
