Alison Oliver Sets Boundaries on Relationship Rumors with Josh O'Connor

Alison Oliver is keeping quiet about her rumored romantic involvement with The Crown alum Josh O’Connor.

“I prefer not to address inquiries on that subject, if you don't mind,” the 28-year-old Oliver stated in a September 6 profile in The Times of London, in response to a question about her dating another performer. “I'm simply establishing a personal boundary, and I appreciate your understanding.”

She further elaborated, “One's private affairs ought to remain private. I've simply made a choice to keep silent on such matters.”

Speculation about a romantic connection between Oliver and O’Connor, 35, initially surfaced in autumn 2024, following reports of his attendance at her sister's wedding in London. Almost a year subsequent to that, Oliver and O’Connor appeared to make their official public appearance, sharing the red carpet at the Cannes International Film Festival for the May premiere of his film, The Mastermind.

Both Oliver and O’Connor have refrained from publicly confirming or denying their relationship. Us Weekly reportedly contacted representatives for both performers for a statement back then.

Regarding Oliver herself, she shared with The Times that managing the intense public scrutiny of her private life can prove challenging.

“Fundamentally, in your profession as an actor, your concentration is entirely on the role, not on yourself,” Oliver elaborated. “It's always an unusual shift when the attention abruptly turns to you and your true self. I recall initially feeling quite overwhelmed, thinking, ‘Goodness, I actually don't know [who I am], so how should I present myself in these situations?’”

The star of Saltburn went on to discuss her methods for maintaining her mental and physical health amidst her acting career in Hollywood.

“My focus is genuinely on staying healthy, and my appearance when I am healthy is precisely how I believe I ought to look,” Oliver additionally commented to the British publication. "I've experienced both extremes. I've attempted to dismiss it and disregard it. Conversely, I've also invested a great deal of concern into it, to the detriment of my health. Now, with age, I accept my appearance, and particularly when I'm on set, my primary consideration is how the character would visually present."

Oliver, who rose to prominence after her performance in Hulu's Conversations With Friends, is set to appear in Emerald Fennell's highly anticipated screen version of Wuthering Heights. (Oliver portrays Isabella Linton, the spouse of Jacob Elordi's Heathcliff.)

“I am quite apprehensive about disclosing any details. I'm uncertain what information I'm permitted to share,” Oliver joked. “It undeniably embodies the essence of the novel.”
