Amanda Seyfried reflects on turning 40 and prioritizing emotional health in the next decade.
Amanda Seyfried recently shared her expectations for the next decade following her 40th birthday.
“It appears active. I anticipate being less self-critical. I hope it brings greater emotional health in numerous aspects,” she exclusively informed Us Weekly during the Hollywood premiere of The Testament of Ann Lee on Sunday, December 14.
Seyfried, whose 40th birthday was on December 3, also discussed the importance of living in the moment.
“I recognize that life is delicate and fleeting, and I'm developing a deeper awareness of the value of being present for every single day,” she continued. (Seyfried previously mentioned to Us that she planned to celebrate this significant birthday in New York City with her close friends).
Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried Make an Impression at New York City ‘The Housemaid’ Premiere
The actress has experienced her most demanding year to date, taking on the role of Shakers leader Ann Lee alongside Lewis Pullman, participating in the drama miniseries Long Bright River, and publicizing her film, The Housemaid, directed by Paul Feig and co-starring Sydney Sweeney.
During the Ann Lee premiere event, Seyfried explained why she thinks the film will connect deeply with viewers.
“Inquisitiveness enhances life immensely, and you truly won't encounter anything else quite like this for a long time,” she stated regarding Mona Fastvold’s musical drama.
“This film introduces a historical figure largely unknown to many, whose narrative is quite revolutionary,” Seyfried added, describing the movie as “memorable” and “an outstanding work of art.”
Portraying Ann Lee presented a significant challenge for Seyfried, extending beyond her acting performance.
“This experience transformed my life as a musician, not only as an actor. It has fundamentally altered my relationship with music and my own identity,” she revealed. “You won't believe that these shaker hymns will become so catchy that you’ll find yourself listening to them repeatedly.”
The actress previously indicated that managing her demanding professional schedule alongside motherhood has proven challenging. (Seyfried and her husband, Thomas Sadoski, share two children: daughter Nina, 8, and son Thomas, 5.)
“To be honest, it is genuinely difficult currently,” Seyfried exclusively shared with Us in November. “This marks my most intense period of work since having two children, and I've never had two films release simultaneously before. Consequently, things feel somewhat chaotic for me at the moment.”
She depends on her female friends for stability during chaotic times.
Sydney Sweeney Discusses Portraying a Morally Ambiguous Role
“We took several trips together this year, which is always enjoyable, and having a girls' night out is essential when you each have two children. It has been genuinely wonderful because there’s consistently something arranged,” she noted. “It’s invaluable to maintain those connections. We navigated adolescence together, and we are still friends? They have witnessed me during truly frantic and disorganized moments.”
Seyfried will release two films this month: The Housemaid, which premieres in cinemas on December 19, and The Testament of Ann Lee, available on December 25 — both projects have received her most positive critical acclaim to date.
“Goodness, the films could not be more distinct from each other,” she commented to Us. Nevertheless, Seyfried offered advice specifically for readers of books.
“I feel equally proud of both projects. I must be upfront, regarding The Housemaid... do not read the source material before viewing the film, as doing so will spoil the surprise twists for you,” she advised.
