Ambyr Childers Reveals Viewing the Infamous Lala Kent Video Sparked a Personal Awakening
Ambyr Childers acknowledges being among those who viewed the now-notorious intimate video featuring Lala Kent and Randall Emmett.
“I watched the tape and I had seen it, and my entire existence felt suspended,” Childers, 37, shared on the Friday, January 9 premiere episode of her and Kent’s “Unlikely Affair” podcast. “It wasn't about what I was observing in front of me. It was more of a realization that I had completely abandoned myself for a long time.”
Childers was married to Emmett, now 54, from 2009 to 2017, during which time they welcomed daughters London and Rylee. Amid the couple’s divorce, Emmett began a relationship with Kent, now 35. The film producer and Kent ended their relationship in October 2021, several months after welcoming daughter Ocean. (Kent welcomed her second child, daughter Sosa, in 2024 using a sperm donor.)
“You look wonderful in the tape,” Childers playfully remarked to the Vanderpump Rules star. “Seeing this tape, it wasn't about the actions taking place. I saw my life flash before my eyes, like, I saw everything. You’re looking at something but you’re not really looking at something; your mind is showing you a different sequence of what’s happening in your life.”

According to Childers, viewing Emmett and Kent’s video prompted her to understand that her marriage was over.
“Leaving never felt secure. That was a threat to everything I had built,” she recalled. “I’ll never forget, after that tape [and] after witnessing what I witnessed, it felt like I suddenly awoke. I thought, ‘If you don’t leave, you’re going to perish.’ I felt so trapped in that relationship … and it’s so difficult for some people to grasp. They say, ‘Just leave.’”
Childers initially remained in her marriage for London and Rylee’s benefit.
“I tell people I stayed because of my children. I didn’t want my girls to experience a fractured home,” the You actress recalled. “I didn’t know what that would be like, and I didn’t want that. And at that moment I realized, I thought, ‘Okay, I need to get out. It’s [like] I have to protect myself for my children.’ … Because if I’m not present, the children aren’t thriving; they don’t breathe the vitality of the house. I believe they truly breathe the vitality of their mother.”

Childers further stated that she felt “half-alive” by the end of her marriage.
“I was taking medication to numb my emotions just to suppress all that pain I was feeling inside because I didn’t know how to deal with it,” Childers said. “I had no healthy way to express it. Acting was my only outlet at that point.”
Childers and Kent have both since moved on from Emmett.
“The fact that you can move forward and still believe in love and allow me into your life demonstrates your strength,” Kent told her friend. “I’ve remained in a place of fear and being completely guarded for many years, and you know, I see one small thing that I don’t like, and I’m like, ‘Oh, this person’s a terrible individual.’ … I think that you should view that as your recovery, [which] is truly remarkable.”
