Amy Schumer Announces Divorce as Celebrity Friends Offer Support
Celebrity friends of Amy Schumer are extending their support following the recent announcement of her divorce.
Schumer, 44, confirmed on Friday, December 12, that she and Chris Fischer are ending their marriage after seven years together.
“Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” Schumer, 44, posted on Instagram. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time.”
Several close acquaintances, including Olivia Munn, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Debra Messing, and Sharon Stone, responded to the post with positive emojis such as hearts and clapping hands.

Sophia Bush commented, writing, “It’s so damn hard without having it be hard for the world to see… so when the world sees I’ll just say be extra gentle with yourself. All love.”

Alongside her announcement, Schumer also shared a photograph of herself and Fischer, 45, on the New York subway. In her caption, she clarified that the separation was not due to her recent weight loss or because her estranged husband, an award-winning chef, might attract other partners. She described the split as amicable, filled with love and respect, emphasizing, "Family forever."
The Daily Mail was the first outlet to report that Schumer and Fischer were experiencing difficulties in their relationship. “Amy is 100 percent getting divorced. She got skinny, she is over it,” a friend close to the actress reportedly told the outlet. “Chris is mostly out of the house at this point. They’ve listed two homes now, in Brooklyn and New Orleans.”
The source continued, “She deleted Chris from Instagram then deleted everything else. She’s going to file soon, but it’s over. Done.”
A second source informed the outlet that, “Amy doesn’t talk about Chris that much anymore, it’s like they are no longer close.”
“He is never around, and she has not taken him on a red carpet for months, “the source added. “It’s not easy because of his autism, he doesn’t even get her jokes, and being funny and making people laugh is important to her. Also, there is that classic cliché: when a woman loses weight, her personality changes. Amy has changed since losing weight, she is much lighter in her spirit, more easy going. I think she wants more out of life.”
A third insider added, “Amy and Chris have been on a routine the last couple years, they have focused more on their child then their relationship and his brutal honesty being autistic is a blessing and a curse for Amy to where she has joked about it on some of her specials but it has also become a minor issue for their relationship.”
