Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper: A Friendship for the Ages

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper have a lot in common, from matching initials to comparable careers, which explains why the pair are considered friendship icons.

Cohen and Cooper first connected in the early 1990s when they were nearly arranged on a blind date. However, their connection never evolved into a romantic one because Cohen violated Cooper’s “major guideline” regarding dating – bringing up his famous mother, Gloria Vanderbilt.

Despite never pursuing a romantic relationship, they cultivated a friendship that blossomed into a powerful professional partnership. Cohen and Cooper have toured together annually since 2016 for their engaging live show, “AC2: An Intimate Evening with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen.” The duo have also jointly hosted CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live since 2017.

The close friends have supported each other as they both embarked on parenthood. Cohen introduced his son, Benjamin, through surrogacy in February 2019. Cooper, meanwhile, shared the news of his son, Wyatt, via surrogacy in April 2020.

Cohen shared on Instagram in May 2020 that he’s wishing their sons will “grow up to be close companions” – mirroring their own bond. He and Cooper have since welcomed daughter Lucy and son Sebastian, respectively.
