Bates Family United in Prayer for Erin During Sepsis Battle

Former Bringing Up Bates personality Michaela Bates has expressed appreciation for the support from fans while her sister, Erin Bates, continues to receive medical care for sepsis.

“A massive thank you to everyone who has been offering prayers for my sister Erin and her loved ones these last few days,” the 35-year-old Michaela posted on Instagram on Thursday, September 4. “We are incredibly touched by the immense show of affection, worry, and spiritual support.”

She further stated, “I haven’t managed to reply to every single message, [but] please understand that your comments, texts, and messages have profoundly moved us, and we are truly thankful.”

Michaela additionally posted a picture featuring Erin’s new arrival, Henry, exclaiming in her caption that the infant is “a complete angelic baby.” (Erin, 34, welcomed her seventh child last August.)

“We have utterly fallen in love with him,” Michaela shared in her post.

Whitney Bates, Michaela and Erin’s sister-in-law, who is wed to Zach Bates, requested additional prayers in the comments section.

“We’re still sending Erin all our affection and praying diligently for her,” the 31-year-old Whitney responded on Thursday.

Their brother, Lawson Bates, reiterated similar feelings.

“These pictures are wonderful, and I’m so glad you could visit and offer support to Erin right now,” the 33-year-old Lawson remarked. “All of us are persistently praying for her full recovery.”

A few hours prior, Chad Paine, Erin’s husband, disclosed that the former reality TV personality had recently experienced a complication in her medical crisis.

“Last night, Erin experienced a prolonged and intense seizure. Until now, Erin’s infection seemed to be improving, but we were plunged back into a state of sorrow, doubt, and tears,” the 38-year-old Paine shared on Instagram. "She is currently in the Intensive Care Unit, with doctors conducting scans and examinations to identify the underlying reason. Erin is incredibly frail and spent numerous hours in a semi-conscious state.”

Paine proceeded, “As her spouse, this is among the most challenging experiences I’ve encountered — to be at her bedside, witnessing her distress, yet powerless to alleviate her pain. My love for her transcends expression, and I cannot fathom existence without my closest companion. The time has passed slowly and heavily, and I’m aware that many hearts are heavy with concern seeing her in this condition, just like mine.”

Soon after Erin welcomed Henry last month, she contracted a serious urinary tract infection and kidney infection, leading to her hospitalization for septic shock.

“She remains in the ICU at present, with medical professionals persistently providing treatment, making diagnoses, and seeking explanations,” Paine posted on Instagram earlier this month. “We would greatly appreciate your prayers for this wonderful young woman who serves as such a beacon in a challenging world. We are relying on divine assurances.”
