David Beckham showed his respect for Stone Roses bassist Mani while navigating personal challenges within his family.
Beckham, age 50, was present at the funeral for Mani (born Gary Mounfield) in Manchester, United Kingdom, on Monday, December 22. The soccer icon wasn’t the only celebrity in attendance at the musician’s memorial. Mani’s former bandmates Ian Brown and Bobby Gillespie, Oasis vocalist Liam Gallagher, and ex-footballer Gary Neville were also among those who gathered.
Mani passed away in November after a struggle with emphysema. The artist was 63 years old.
Beckham’s presence at the funeral follows reports of a possible division within his family. David and his wife Victoria Beckham have reportedly experienced difficulties with their son Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and his spouse, Nicola Peltz Beckham. (David and Victoria, 51, also have sons Cruz, 20, and Romeo, 23, and a daughter, Harper, 14.)

Observant followers have noted that David, Victoria, Brooklyn, and Nicola, all 30, no longer follow each other on social media platforms. Following reports about the alleged unfollowing, Brooklyn’s brother Cruz responded to the speculation, asserting that he and his parents had been blocked.
“FALSE,” Cruz posted on Instagram on Sunday, December 21, alongside a screenshot of Daily Mail’s reporting on the family conflict. “My mum and dad would never unfollow their son.. let’s get the details correct. They woke up blocked … as did I.”
David and Victoria’s reported disagreements with Brooklyn and Nicola are said to have begun around the couple’s 2022 wedding. For her wedding day, Nicola opted for a couture Valentino gown rather than a design from her mother-in-law, which allegedly caused friction.
Us Weekly reported earlier this year that an incident also occurred during the newlyweds’ first dance, which was performed by wedding guest Marc Anthony.
“The dance was a significant moment carefully planned for the couple,” a source with knowledge of the situation told Us exclusively. “It was a generous gesture from Marc Anthony that the Peltz family invested considerable time and resources into, including staging and a live band at their residence.”
During the performance, Anthony reportedly invited Victoria, a close friend of his, onto the stage and described her as “the most beautiful woman in the room.” This comment allegedly upset Nicola, causing her to leave the wedding reception.
“It’s unfortunate and difficult to understand that such a special moment was disrupted,” the insider continued. “However, Marc Anthony had no negative intentions.”

Earlier this year, Brooklyn and Nicola were conspicuously absent from David’s 50th birthday celebration. Another source subsequently informed Us in October that Brooklyn wasn’t interested in rebuilding his relationship with his family.
“Brooklyn has no desire to resolve things at this time,” the insider revealed. “He’s truly focused on enjoying a calm, drama-free life with Nicola. They’ve created their own life together and are very happy. They prefer to allow matters to resolve on their own rather than attempting to fix something that still feels strained.”
The reported tension between Brooklyn and his parents has also affected his relationships with his siblings. The source explained that the family’s “relationships remain difficult.”
