Beloved TikTok Grandma, Epic Gamer Grandma, Passes Away at 78
The beloved Scottish TikTok personality known as Epic Gamer Grandma has passed away following an extended hospitalization. She was 78 years old.
The late influencer, whose given name was Agnes, died on Sunday, December 21st, her grandson, Culsans, confirmed through her TikTok page on Tuesday, December 23rd. Culsans shared that Agnes died while “holding the hand of her daughter, Pauline.”
“She departed this world in a manner consistent with how she lived: surrounded by affection,” he stated. “We observed the most resilient woman we knew gradually lose her ability to speak, and now that she’s gone, we are overwhelmed by all the things we never had the chance to express to her.”
Culsans wrote that his family is “devastated” by the loss but “immensely proud” of Agnes for who she was both before and after achieving viral recognition.

“Grandma demonstrated that the internet isn’t solely for the younger generation,” he continued. “She proved that one can be in their seventies and still discover new communities, new friendships, and new avenues for self-expression. She reminded people that our senior citizens are not invisible. That they possess stories, humor, opinions, and so much more to offer.”
Culsans added, “She also showed us how to confront the most difficult circumstances with dignity. Her final months were filled with discomfort, anxiety, and uncertainty, yet she never ceased being herself. Even when words failed her, you could see in her eyes the same kindness, the same wit, the same fortitude. She persevered for as long as she could, not for her own sake, but for ours.”
Agnes accumulated over 2.4 million followers on TikTok and 859,000 Instagram followers through her videos about Minecraft and other games, as well as humorous glimpses into her daily life.
After admirers noticed in October that the social media personality’s online activity had lessened, Culsans posted on Agnes’ page to announce that she had been admitted to the hospital because her Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) “had worsened considerably.” (COPD is a progressive lung ailment that causes obstructed airflow and breathing difficulties, according to Mayo Clinic.)
Two days later, Culsans revealed that his grandmother had “suffered a significant stroke” and would be receiving “intensive treatment,” as well as tests to address an “irregularity in her lungs.”
Culsans provided another update in early November.
“Her cognitive abilities and speech remain severely impaired; most sentences are either completely incomprehensible or simply lack coherence,” he wrote. “Her bones are causing her intense pain, and it’s profoundly heartbreaking to witness. My mother and I had to take frequent breaks to have a space to both grieve and process everything and to remain strong for Grandma when she needed us most.”

Culsans continued, “The physical impact of the stroke on both her mind and body has been substantial. … She is practically as fragile as one could be, and she doesn’t resemble the Grandma I knew before.”
Numerous fans mourned Agnes’ death and extended their condolences to her family in the comments section of Culsans’ most recent post.
“I am sorry for your loss; you are remarkably strong for sharing her journey publicly,” one user wrote to her grandson.
“She will be deeply missed,” another fan added.
“Rest in peace gamer grandma, she truly brightened my days when I watched her videos,” a third person commented.
