Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor: A Love Story Reunited After Pandemic Proximity
Ben Stiller has openly discussed reuniting with his spouse, Christine Taylor, following their reconciliation after separating in 2017.
Stiller and Taylor exchanged vows in May 2000, having developed a romance on the set of the TV pilot Heat Vision and Jack in 1999. The pair portrayed romantic partners in Stiller's 2001 movie Zoolander. Their daughter, Ella, was born in April 2002. Stiller and Taylor's family grew to include their son, Quinn, in July 2005.
The couple, Stiller and Taylor, disclosed their decision to separate in 2017, after almost twenty years together as husband and wife.
"It is with immense love and mutual respect, reflecting on our 18 years as a married couple, that we have chosen to go our separate ways," the duo communicated to Us Weekly in a shared declaration then. "Our primary focus remains on co-parenting our children as dedicated parents and very close companions. We respectfully request that the media grant us privacy during this period."

During their time apart, Stiller and Taylor were seen together on numerous occasions at various events. Stiller and Taylor rekindled their relationship when circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic brought them back into close proximity.
"We resided under the same roof for nearly a year before truly reuniting as a couple," Stiller remarked in a January 2025 discussion with the New York Times. "However, I am immensely thankful for that period, and I believe it's uncommon for couples to reconcile after separating. There's a unique feeling when you get back together. You gain a far greater appreciation for what you possess, recognizing that it could have been lost."

Their Reconciliation Story
In February 2022, Stiller revealed that his dynamic with Taylor "transformed" after he moved back in with his spouse and children during the pandemic.
"We had separated, but we reunited, and we are delighted about it. It has brought great joy to our entire family," he informed Esquire. "It was unforeseen, and a direct result of the pandemic situation."
Separation Fostered Insight
Stiller disclosed that his and Taylor's marital state was "not ideal" after their relocation from California to New York subsequent to Zoolander 2's debut. Following a period of separation, the Severance helmer adopted a fresh perspective.
"Many things were happening," he conveyed to The New York Times in January 2025. "Our separation allowed for the necessary space to assess our connection, to understand how my life felt without that partnership, and to recognize the depth of my affection for our family structure."
Maintaining Optimism
Stiller admitted that he "didn't anticipate" a reunion with Taylor, yet he held onto hope.
"A part of me wasn't prepared to simply abandon it," he shared with The Hollywood Reporter in February 2025. "This was likely influenced by observing my own parents. And I cherish Christine, I cherish my family, and I wasn't prepared to say, 'Alright, this is the end.'"
The Night at the Museum actor further expressed his "happiness" that he "didn't completely miss the opportunity" to spend moments with Taylor and their children.
Overcoming Obstacles
Although Stiller's professional endeavors thrived, his private life encountered difficulties.
"I simply felt off-kilter, dissatisfied, somewhat estranged from my family, from my children, and a bit adrift," he recounted in the documentary Stiller & Meara: Nothing is Lost, which debuted at the New York Film Festival in October 2025. "I began contemplating my parents and all the strain and friction I observed during my childhood, the pressures they faced while collaborating, and how they managed to remain united through it all. … I believe I sought to grasp, in some way, their method."
