Billy Porter Finds New Love with Fitness Enthusiast Eric Anderson Following Divorce
Billy Porter is no longer single, having publicly confirmed his relationship with new boyfriend, Eric Anderson, through a joint announcement.
"Feeling loved. #datenight," was the accompanying caption for a joint Instagram post shared by Porter, aged 56, and Anderson on Thursday, October 23.
The upload featured an endearing snapshot of Porter and Anderson during their time in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The pair were beaming and clasped hands while seated at a dining surface.
Anderson's Instagram profile indicates he is dedicated to fitness, particularly enjoying yoga and CrossFit. He resides in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Billy Porter Initiated Divorce Proceedings Prior to Publicizing Separation from Adam Smith
Although the exact start date of Porter and Anderson's relationship is unknown, they appear to have been acquainted for a considerable period. Porter first appeared on Anderson's social media in July. Anderson shared a picture of himself alongside the Tony Award recipient at a New York City Pride celebration.
"New York City Pride was fantastic," Anderson wrote as the caption for the image gallery, which contained a photo of him with Porter.
The previous month, Anderson shared a heartfelt message commemorating Porter's birthday.
"We're not just celebrating birth, life, and longevity, but also gratitude," Anderson captioned a picture of the duo. "I'm thankful you're here and to be here with you. Happy Birthday @theebillyporter I love you."
During September, Porter received a diagnosis of a significant instance of sepsis. This health issue caused Porter to conclude his engagement in Broadway's Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club ahead of schedule.
"Because of a severe bout of sepsis, Billy Porter is also required to withdraw from the production," a message posted on the show's social media stated then. "His medical team is certain he will fully recover but has recommended a period of rest."
Although Porter was slated to continue with the production until mid-October, Cabaret revealed its premature closure by one month.
"With profound regret, we have reached the difficult choice to conclude our Broadway engagement on September 21," producer Adam Speers commented in a September announcement to Entertainment Weekly. "Representing all the producers, we are deeply honored to have presented this iteration of John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Joe Masteroff's significant work, Cabaret, in New York and to have welcomed audiences to our Kit Kat Club for the eighteen months it has been open."
Speers added, "Billy was a phenomenal Emcee, showcasing his distinctive fervor and exceptional skill. We hope for Billy's swift recuperation, and I eagerly anticipate collaborating with him once more in the foreseeable future."

Prior to his relationship with Anderson, Porter had been married to Adam Smith. The couple exchanged vows in January 2017. By July 2023, Porter and Smith had parted ways following six years of matrimony.
"The choice was agreeable and mutually agreed upon, arrived at after extensive deliberation," Porter's representative conveyed in a statement to People. "They persist in their affection and assistance for one another as they begin this subsequent phase of their lives."
Us Weekly subsequently disclosed that Porter initiated divorce proceedings a month prior to the public announcement of their separation. Their divorce was concluded in 2024.
