Billy Ray Cyrus Celebrates Daughter Miley Cyrus's Engagement to Maxx Morando
Billy Ray Cyrus is expressing his joy regarding his daughter Miley Cyrus’ engagement to Maxx Morando.
“It's no wonder you turned out so remarkable, you have the greatest godmother in the world!” Billy Ray, aged 64, posted on Instagram on Wednesday, December 3, alongside a photo featuring Miley, 33, and Dolly Parton. He continued, “So delighted you and MaxxAgazillion discovered one another! Congratulations!”
He concluded his message with, “Glad to witness your happiness together! Love, Dad.”
Miley subtly confirmed her engagement on Monday, December 1, when she and Morando, 27, jointly attended the premiere of Avatar: Fire And Ash. As the couple proceeded down the red carpet, Miley conspicuously displayed her gold engagement ring for photographers.

Morando proposed to Miley earlier this year, during a trip the couple took to Asia.
“I actually had never visited Japan, which was something I did intentionally,” the “Flowers” vocalist revealed on Wednesday’s installment of Good Morning America. “I wanted a single destination in the world that could be my personal, cherished spot. I'm not easily caught off guard because I like to oversee every situation, and I had completely relinquished control. And I assure you, I was so, so surprised.”
Miley additionally praised the drummer for “doing a good job” in choosing the ring, a 14-carat cushion-cut diamond set on a gold band crafted by Jacquie Aiche.
Miley and Morando's relationship began in 2021.
“Maxx and I have been together for four years, and the immense personal growth I’ve experienced in that time is quite evident… and much of that is truly thanks to having a wonderful partner,” the Grammy winner enthusiastically told GMA about her relationship. “You simply aspire to dream as grandly as possible, and you wish for someone beside you who constantly tells you that you can achieve it.”
Miley was previously married to her The Last Song costar, Liam Hemsworth, with their union lasting from 2018 to 2020.
“Miley never anticipated marrying again, and Maxx transformed everything for her,” an insider exclusively shared with Us Weekly after the engagement news broke. “They have a remarkably healthy and private bond.”
While Miley and Morando largely keep their relationship out of the public eye, the pop star has been open about the reasons their dynamic works so well.

“[Maxx] will be 27 when I turn 33, which I’m incredibly excited for him to reach 27 because that was such a significant year for me,” Miley told her mother Tish Cyrus on her “Sorry We’re Cyrus” podcast in June, referencing the couple’s age difference. “I’m just hoping that, provided he follows in my footsteps, everything will be fantastic. That’s precisely when I started to change my life around.”
Miley further elaborated on why she and Morando were such an ideal match.
“He’s a Scorpio, as is his grandfather, which is what makes Maxx so distinct because he has a certain intensity,” she explained, citing their astrological compatibility. “They are quite charming, [and they] think they’re little angels until the situation changes and they reveal their bite. I couldn’t be with someone who doesn’t have that edge. They would have been overcome by now.”
Billy Ray and his former wife Tish, 58, are parents to Miley, Braison, and Noah. The “Achy Breaky Heart” artist also adopted Brandi and Trace, Tish’s two elder children from a previous relationship. Although the family had experienced estrangement following Billy Ray and Tish’s divorce in 2022, they managed to reconcile earlier this year.
