Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Embrace Halloween Amidst Legal Battle
Despite her continuing legal dispute with her former It Ends With Us costar and director, Justin Baldoni, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are embracing the Halloween season.
The 48-year-old Deadpool star uploaded a fresh selfie to his Instagram Story on Saturday, October 18, showing his 38-year-old wife next to a Halloween-themed balloon artwork by Big Head Balloons.
This particular balloon sculpture — a spider with a Halloween vibe, fixed to a New York City light pole — was among numerous designs from the company, which, according to its official Instagram, provides “balloon fun in your home or at your event by a NYC original.”
“This fantastic piece is from @bigheadballoons,” Reynolds stated in an earlier Instagram Story post from that day. “My apologies to anyone who hurried to check on the outrageous shrieking. I wasn't even sure if I was the one making the noise initially.”

He added, “Also, a soft reminder of the joy you felt upon learning that Ghost Spiders are not an actual problem that everyone must contend with. The EMTs mentioned the ozone layer is recovering. She noted that no one discusses that either.”
The selfie showed Reynolds dressed in a beige jacket fastened over a pale yellow shirt, complemented by black trousers. Lively, meanwhile, sported a substantial tweed coat, her hair styled in lengthy, wavy locks reminiscent of a beach look.
This cheerful photograph emerges as Lively's legal dispute with Baldoni continues. The widely publicized conflict started in December 2024, when the actress charged her It Ends With Us costar and director with sexual harassment, fostering an unfriendly workplace, and initiating a purported defamation campaign against her. Baldoni strongly rejected these claims and filed a countersuit against Lively.
A judge subsequently dismissed Baldoni’s legal action against Lively. Lively’s case, however, is still active and is set for trial in March 2026.
According to a People report on Friday, October 17, several cast members from It Ends With Us were summoned for depositions, among them Lively’s fellow actors Jenny Slate and Isabela Ferrera, along with author Colleen Hoover, whose bestselling novel served as the film's inspiration.
The publication stated that Hoover recently underwent a deposition. Slate, who played Baldoni’s character's sister, and Ferrer, who depicted the younger rendition of Lively's character, were reportedly deposed during the summer months.
Us Weekly has contacted representatives for Slate, Ferrera, and Hoover for their statements.
When Lively initially presented her accusations against Baldoni, Slate offered public support.

“As a fellow cast member and friend of Blake Lively, I express my support as she pursues legal action against those alleged to have orchestrated and executed an assault on her reputation,” Slate stated to Today.com in December 2024. “Blake stands as a leader, a devoted friend, and a reliable source of emotional encouragement for me and countless others who cherish her.”
Following the filing of the lawsuit against Baldoni, Hoover also publicly backed Lively.
“Blake Lively, you have consistently shown honesty, kindness, support, and patience since our first encounter,” Hoover posted on Instagram, accompanying a picture of them together. “Thank you for being precisely the person you are. Never alter. Never fade.”
In July, Lively underwent a deposition in New York City conducted by Baldoni’s legal representatives, as preparations for their upcoming court dates proceeded. Us had earlier reported that Baldoni attended this session.
