"I did present you with a ring, and it is a diamond ring. You and I have already discussed this. Marriage is not something that appeals to us. I've attempted it a few times and I'm content with my current situation. I wanted to give that to you to generally demonstrate my commitment to you."
While Flay acknowledged that some might consider the ring trivial or unnecessary, he views it as a symbol signifying that the couple are "life partners."
