Brandi Cyrus is engaged to Matt Southcombe in a heartwarming holiday proposal
Brandi Cyrus and Matt Southcombe are celebrating the holidays with an engagement.
“It’s been the most incredible, significant year of my life and I get to conclude it by saying YES to forever with my ideal partner,” Cyrus, 38, wrote in an Instagram post on Friday, December 26. “I’m so grateful every day that my flight was cancelled and I stumbled into this coffee shop one afternoon and discovered you. You’re my closest confidante and everything I’ve spent my entire life searching for. I love you eternally!!!”
The DJ shared images of her engagement, which showed Southcombe down on one knee beside his motorcycle. She was beaming as she accepted his proposal before they shared a kiss. Cyrus also posed alongside her man for a lovely portrait captured at sunset, displaying her ring.
It seems that they also enjoyed a celebratory dinner, as Cyrus could be seen kissing Southcombe while seated at a table adorned with white flowers in a fourth photo.
“Not sure what I did to deserve such a wonderful woman but I’m thankful for her daily!” Southcombe commented on Cyrus’ Instagram post. “I love you!”

He shared her collection of engagement photos via Instagram Stories as well.
“Secured the dream girl,” Southcombe wrote on Friday. “Never encountered a kinder, more dedicated woman in my life.”
Cyrus hasn’t been very public about her relationship with Southcombe, an Australian native and the founder of Mountain Choppers, which is “a one man, one dog operation run from a small 2.5 bay detached workshop situated on the edge of Tamborine Mountain, Australia.” According to his company’s website, Southcombe specializes in “building, restoring, riding and maintaining traditional Harley Davidson Choppers from the 40s through to early 80s.”
It appears their relationship began at least in July 2024, which was when Cyrus started “liking” Southcombe’s Instagram photos. Cyrus made her debut on Southcombe’s Instagram in October 2024. She was also featured in a series of photos from his December 2024 Christmas festivities.
“Full stocking this Christmas,” Southcombe wrote at the time. “Hope everyone had a wonderful day with the people they cherish.”
Cyrus hinted earlier this year that she had been dating “an Aussie” but didn’t provide any further details about Southcombe. The couple made their first red carpet appearance at the Landman season 2 premiere in New York City. Cyrus posed with Southcombe for several photos while walking the red carpet.

Southcombe’s proposal to Cyrus comes months after she appeared on Harry Jowsey’s “Boyfriend Material” podcast in July. At the time, Cyrus’ mom, Tish Cyrus, jokingly said that her daughter was “so pessimistic” about love before meeting a “7-foot” man. Tish, 58, seemed to be referencing Southcombe’s height, since he towers over Brandi.
“I was like, ‘Men are awful. I’m going to be alone forever. I don’t need this stuff,’" Brandi said. “But here’s the thing. I met someone my age that’s also — he’s experienced his fair share of difficulties with relationships through his life, and so have I.”
She added, “For me and for Matt, we were searching for a partner. Someone that complements my life, improves me, desires the same things I desire. I believe that’s what you have to begin looking for.”
Tish welcomed Brandi and Trace, 36, with ex Baxter Helson. They were adopted by her second husband, Billy Ray Cyrus, whom she married in 1993. Tish and Billy Ray, 64, went on to welcome daughters Miley, 33, and Noah, 25, and son Braison, 31, before separating in 2023.
