Former Bringing Up Bates personality Erin Bates is recovering after a hospital stay due to septic shock.
“With tears in our eyes, we are praising the Lord that we are on the road to recovery,” an Instagram update from Erin and husband Chad Paine’s shared account, dated Saturday, September 6, stated. “Your prayers have definitely touched heaven.”
Bates, 34, and Paine, 38, also shared a video clip showing the former reality television star awake and sharing a kiss with her infant son, Henry, while still in her hospital bed.
Bates’ extensive circle of family and friends expressed immense joy at the encouraging news, extending their ongoing support and well-wishes in the comments.

Soon after Erin welcomed her seventh child, Henry, in August, she was admitted to the hospital with a severe urinary tract infection and kidney infection, which progressed to sepsis—a critical condition potentially leading to organ failure, tissue damage, or even fatality, as outlined by the Cleveland Clinic.
“She remains in the ICU as medical professionals persist in treatment, diagnosis, and seeking solutions,” Paine shared on Instagram earlier in the month. “We would covet your prayers for this beautiful girl who is such a light in a dark world. We are holding onto God’s promises.”
A few days subsequent, Erin experienced a downturn.

“Last night, Erin endured a prolonged and intense seizure. Until this point, Erin’s infection had been improving, but we found ourselves back in a state of sorrow, doubt, and tears,” Paine posted on Instagram on Thursday, September 4. “She is in the ICU, and doctors are conducting scans and tests to ascertain the root cause. Erin is exceptionally weak and spent several hours only partially conscious.”
Paine stated that observing Erin contend with her health struggles was profoundly challenging.
“As her husband, it stands as one of the most difficult experiences I’ve ever confronted — to be by her side and witness her pain while being utterly powerless to alleviate her suffering,” Paine concluded. “I cherish her more profoundly than words can convey, and I cannot envision a life without my dearest friend. The hours have felt extensive and burdensome, and I am aware that many hearts ache to see her in this condition, alongside my own.”
