Britney Spears Returns to Instagram with Lingerie Post Amidst Ex-Husband's Memoir Controversy
Looks like she's back! Britney Spears has reappeared on Instagram, posting a suggestive picture just under a week after her profile appeared to vanish.
The 43-year-old “Toxic” artist reinstated her Instagram on Friday, November 8, sharing a black-and-white lingerie shot and a glimpse into her wardrobe. Spears additionally shared some thoughtful reflections on her eventful year.
“This year has brought so many changes, it’s unbelievable … I strive to manage my life responsibly, and the book, Draw the Circle, offers a remarkable viewpoint. Embrace your inner ballerina 🩰, create your space, and define your limits,” Spears posted.
The acclaimed artist added, “It’s quite rigorous and almost like a spiritual practice, yet with life offering infinite paths, it’s vital to prioritize yourself and maintain simplicity. I understand there’s also a perplexing aspect. The intricacies can be tricky, but we can explore that another time.”
Spears’ reappearance on social media occurred six days after her Instagram account seemingly went offline on Sunday, November 2. Users attempting to view her profile were met with the message: “The profile you’re looking for doesn’t exist.”
Us Weekly had contacted Spears for a statement then.
Spears has been at the center of a dispute following the October release of her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s revealing memoir, You Thought You Knew. Federline, 47, voiced particular worries about Spears’ Instagram activity in both his book and related interviews.
In a passage from the book, which Us acquired, Federline expressed apprehension that “past events [were] recurring,” likening it to Spears’ public conduct after their 2007 separation. Spears was eventually subjected to a 13-year conservatorship, which concluded only due to widespread advocacy from the “Free Britney” campaign in 2021.
Britney Spears Fears Kevin Federline's Book Could Create 'Distance' From Sons
“Given her recent liberation, I observed a pattern of past events resurfacing,” Federline stated. “Her online posts grew increasingly unpredictable. There were the well-known clips of her knife dancing, enigmatic declarations, and erratic conduct that couldn't be overlooked.”
Federline claimed that his and Spears’ two children, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, “soon learned to steer clear of social media” to avoid the negative reactions they would incur from engaging with their mother’s followers.
“They understood that [replying] would lead to: ceaseless criticism and accusations directed at them by fans who weren’t privy to the complete situation,” he asserted. “The ardent Free Britney supporters were harsh. The sons recognized it was preferable to cultivate a bond with their mother on their own conditions.”
A representative for Spears criticized Federline for fostering “dramatization” and implied he had strategically launched his memoir “once child support obligations had ceased.” Spears subsequently issued her own retort, affirming that the “manipulative behavior from [her] former spouse” was “profoundly damaging and draining.”
“Believe me, those fabricated stories in that publication are purely for financial gain, and I am the sole person truly harmed by this,” she penned. “I will forever care for [my children], and if you truly understand me, you won’t heed the tabloid gossip about my mental well-being and alcohol consumption. I am, in fact, an intelligent woman who has sought to lead a cherished and secluded life for the past 5 years. I’m addressing this because I’ve reached my limit, and any strong woman would react similarly.”
In an exclusive conversation with Us, Federline countered his ex-wife’s claim that You Thought You Knew was merely a bid for quick earnings.

“Financial gain is not the driving force here,” he maintained. “I believe that if she is entitled to share her narrative, why shouldn’t I be as well?”
Federline mentioned Spears’ own 2023 New York Times Bestselling memoir, The Woman in Me, remarking: “Everyone has the right to their own opinion. Her viewpoint stands as it is, and I possess my own outlook, which I also feel entitled to.”
The choreographer confessed he “couldn’t recall the most recent discussion” he’d shared with Spears, though he asserted he bore no resentment.
“My genuine desire is for her to enjoy an excellent relationship with her offspring,” Federline informed Us. “I wish her joy, good health, and every positive aspect. I aspire to nothing less than success for her.”
