Brittany Mahomes Shows Strength and Progress After Spinal Fracture Recovery
Brittany Mahomes is showing significant progress after suffering a spinal fracture over a year ago.
“It’s been nearly a year and a half of rehabilitation following a broken back, which involved considerable discomfort and restricted movement,” Mahomes’ trainer Kirsty Rae explained in a video posted to her Instagram Story on Monday, December 5. “Now, almost a year after giving birth and consistently growing stronger each week.”
The video displayed Mahomes, 30, performing squats and lifting a substantial barbell in a gym setting.
“This demonstrates the body’s remarkable potential when approached with patience and focused training,” Rae continued. “I’m incredibly proud of you @brittanylynne .”

Mahomes subsequently shared the post on her own Instagram Story.
In March of 2024, Brittany disclosed that she sustained the injury after she and her husband, Patrick Mahomes, welcomed their daughter Sterling, 4, and son Bronze, 3. (The couple, who married in 2022, later expanded their family with daughter Golden in January 2025.)
“Just a friendly reminder. After having children, it’s crucial to prioritize your pelvic floor health. Seriously,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories at the time, signing the message as, “From: Someone with a fractured back.”
Two months later, Brittany provided an update on her condition.
“I’m feeling really well,” she told E! News in May 2024. “I’m enjoying life to the fullest. My back is no longer fractured, which is a positive development.”
Brittany added that she received clearance to resume exercising.
“I’m finally fully recovered and able to participate in activities I previously enjoyed. I’m committed to maintaining my health,” she told the outlet, emphasizing the importance of being “active and healthy for my children and my pets.”
Since her recovery, Brittany has consistently maintained her fitness regimen. Last month, she included her oldest children in a Christmas Eve workout session.
“Christmas Eve workout with my kids,” Brittany captioned an Instagram Story video showing Sterling and Bronze walking on a treadmill alongside her.

The young children attempted to keep pace with their mother but were unsuccessful. Sterling was the first to lose her balance, followed by Bronze. Neither of Brittany’s children appeared to be hurt as they followed her during the subsequent workout. The children rested on a gym mat while Brittany performed leg lifts and additional core exercises.
Brittany isn't the only member of the family undergoing a recovery process. Patrick, 30, suffered a season-ending injury last month when he tore his ACL in the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
“Unsure why this occurred. And I’m not going to lie, it’s painful. But all we can do now is Trust in God and dedicate ourselves to each day, repeatedly,” the quarterback wrote on X after the game, which the Chiefs lost and were subsequently eliminated from the playoffs. “Thank you Chiefs kingdom for your unwavering support and to everyone who has reached out and sent prayers.”
Patrick underwent a successful surgical procedure the following week.
