Brittany Snow Opens Up About Her Divorce and Finding Herself

Brittany Snow has offered a rare glimpse into what comes next for her after her divorce from Tyler Stanaland.

Snow and Stanaland tied the knot in 2020 and separated in 2022.

“Following a period of thought and deliberation, Britt and I have reached the painful decision to part ways. This choice was made with affection and mutual respect for one another,” the Selling the OC personality announced on Instagram in September 2022. “We have come to realize that we each require time to ensure we are living our most fulfilling and authentic lives.”

He continued, “Our journey began as best friends, and our connection will remain a priority not just for us, but for our dog, Charlie. We sincerely value your support and request privacy as we navigate this new phase.”

Snow officially filed for divorce in January 2023, and their separation was finalized in July 2023.

As both Snow and Stanaland have moved forward — he proposed to his girlfriend Hannah Morrissey in October 2025 after less than a year together — they have been open about their divorce and the process of moving on.

What Led to Brittany Snow and Tyler Stanaland’s Divorce

“I will not elaborate on this specific topic,” Snow stated regarding her divorce on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast in March 2024. “I believe this applies to many of my past relationships or advice I give my friends, which is to genuinely begin to perceive them as actual individuals, rather than the idealized version you envisioned or constructed, but rather who they truly are.”

According to Snow, she witnessed a different facet of Stanaland during the inaugural season of Netflix’s Selling the OC. (As fans recall, several of Stanaland’s co-stars attempted to flirt with him and share “noseys” or kisses.)

Snow further disclosed on the podcast that the on-screen drama served as “a blatant fing signal” of a warning sign.

Despite the turmoil, the Hunting Wives actress can still recall joyful times with Stanaland.

“There was a marriage there. There was so much love,” she remembered. “I believe that gray [area] is difficult to grasp because it’s far more sensational and intriguing if it’s simply, ‘He did this, and she did this.’ I think many people enter relationships where they are hurt, but I have no regrets. I don’t regret anything that transpired. I cherished the time we shared when we had it.”

Brittany Snow Responds to ‘Selling the OC’ Drama

“I was unaware of many things, and I will state that,” she informed “Call Her Daddy” host Alex Cooper. “I will say, what people imagine occurred, did occur. [The cast] consumed a great deal of my energy, emotion, time, and mental space, and I refuse to grant them any more time and energy because then they would triumph and achieve their objective, which was to capture my time, energy, and attention.”

Brittany Snow’s Divorce Affected Her Health

While speaking with Self in November 2025, Snow revealed that she struggled to eat after her separation from Stanaland.

“I’d tell myself, ‘OK, baby girl, do you want a bagel? Let’s get you a bagel. We’re going to toast it,’” Snow told the magazine, detailing how she addressed her unhealthy eating habits. “I started realizing that I was consuming whatever I desired. [It] completely transformed my perspective on my body. I was speaking to myself as if I were someone I loved. And then, I simply never stopped doing that.”

Finding Solace in Literature

Glennon Doyle truly, truly offered me significant assistance when I was navigating my divorce,” Snow shared with Bustle in September 2025, referring to Doyle’s Untamed. “This book was recommended to me by another friend who had just gone through a divorce, and she advised, ‘Get it immediately. This is the first thing you need to read.’ And I thought, ‘I know about Glennon Doyle, of course, but I’m not going to subscribe to this.’ And then, I devoured it. It genuinely did help.”

She continued, “In any heartbreak, you experience that period of wallowing and self-pity, and you’re doing all the emotional work, but if someone presented you with an option and said, ‘You can either experience this love and feel all the emotions and have these wonderfully amazing moments, but you will also feel this pain and heartbreak.’”

How Brittany Snow Embraced the Single Life

During her “Call Her Daddy” appearance, Snow mentioned that she had been “in and out of” casual relationships since her divorce.

“I’ve been, let’s use air quotes here, oddly single. I’m not saying strangely, it’s so unusual for me to be single,” she clarified in March 2024. “I’m saying oddly because it’s very easy for me to enter a relationship, and I’ve been actively striving to be alone and spend time with myself and simply feel the emotions without having to patch things up with dazzling, sparkling, emotional distractions.”

Brittany Snow Is Open to Falling in Love Again

“Personally — and this isn’t for everyone — I would choose to experience the love and then the heartbreak because I love feeling everything,” she told Bustle in September 2025. “I simply adore being in love, and so I would do it again. I would always opt for it.”
