Busy Philipps Steps Out With New Boyfriend Blake Berris Following Separation
Busy Philipps has embraced a new phase following her separation from Marc Silverstein, openly revealing her romantic involvement with soap opera personality Blake Berris during a red carpet appearance.
The 46-year-old Philipps and 41-year-old Berris made a joint appearance at the Daytime Emmy Awards, held in Pasadena, California, on Friday, October 17. The former star of Dawson’s Creek shone brightly in an elegant red strapless gown, contrasted by Berris' choice of a sharp navy ensemble.
A representative for Philipps later verified to People magazine that the actress and Berris, who have refrained from commenting further on their relationship, are indeed a couple. Us Weekly made an inquiry for a statement.
At the event, Berris received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Drama Series, though he was eventually bested by Jonathan Jackson. (Berris gained significant recognition for portraying Nick Fallon in the soap opera Days of Our Lives.)
Busy Philipps and Marc Silverstein: Their Journey Together
This relationship with Berris marks Philipps’ initial romantic endeavor since finalizing her divorce. Philipps and Silverstein, aged 54, shared their vows from 2007 to 2021, a period when they became parents to Birdie, now 17, and Cricket, now 11.
“Marc and I have been apart for a considerable duration, and our children, families, and close circle are all aware,” Philipps disclosed during a May 2022 installment of her personal podcast. “Marc and I discussed this extensively, and upon our initial separation [in 2021], the thought of releasing a public statement was unbearable — it genuinely upset both of us. It has been a process.”
She further stated then, “The most effective method Marc and I found to safeguard the privacy of our children, whom we cherish immensely, was to keep the public uninvolved.”
In the subsequent year, Philipps shared exclusively with Us Weekly her profound “excitement” regarding the forthcoming phase of her life.
“It has genuinely been quite pleasant. We’ve had the opportunity to travel somewhat,” Philipps conveyed to Us in August 2023, describing her experience as a single mother. “My children have been relishing a relaxed and generally tranquil summer.”

In that same year, following Birdie’s wishes, Philipps and Silverstein enrolled their daughter in a boarding school located in Switzerland.
“This signifies a phase in my child’s maturation, and while some perceive it as sending her to a distant place, I will still visit her frequently,” Philipps explained to Us. “Therefore, things will be fine. I actually feel quite positive about the situation.”
Birdie’s academic journey in her new environment also influenced her bond with Philipps.
“Our relationship is exceptionally close, and she resembles her mother in numerous aspects; she is very articulate, making her less like a conventional teenager,” Philipps informed Us in May 2024, providing an update on her eldest child. “She has spent this year at a boarding school overseas, which has been quite an experience. It wasn’t my decision, but rather her own, though I certainly encouraged her to seek new horizons.”
She went on to say, “I believe it’s immensely beneficial for her to immerse herself in a different culture, and it has also transformed our dynamic to focus more on enjoyable activities, rather than constant directives like ‘Tidy your space,’ ‘Do your washing,’ ‘Rise from bed,’ or ‘Consume your greens.’ With someone else managing those aspects, I can now concentrate on the more pleasurable interactions.”
