Buzz Aldrin Mourns the Loss of His Wife Anca Faur
Anca Faur, the fourth spouse of Buzz Aldrin, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, at the age of 66.
The families of Aldrin, 95, and Faur announced her passing on Facebook on Wednesday, October 29, stating that Faur “peacefully” died in her sleep, accompanied by her son, Vlad Ghenciu, and her husband.
“I consider myself incredibly lucky to have discovered and wed the love of my life,” Aldrin expressed regarding his deceased wife. “She infused happiness into every shared experience. I will deeply feel her absence.”
In their tribute to Faur, her family commended her professional journey as an “esteemed chemical engineer holding a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.”

Her loved ones’ statement indicated that Faur held positions as treasurer for the California Hydrogen Business Council and as executive vice president of Buzz Aldrin Ventures LLC.
“Her family asks for discretion during this period of grief,” the announcement concluded.
Faur’s demise occurred under three years after she and Aldrin exchanged vows. The pair first encountered each other in December 2017, subsequent to Aldrin’s separation from Lois Driggs Cannon.
Aldrin — recognized as the second individual to traverse the lunar surface during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969 — began a romantic relationship with Faur in May 2018. They solemnized their marriage in January 2023, with the celebration held in a park on Aldrin’s 93rd birthday.

After their wedding, Aldrin confided to People the profound significance Faur held for him. “My life has never been more joyful than it is presently, sharing moments with Anca,” Aldrin effused in April 2023.
“She represents the ultimate love of my life, and we undertake every activity side-by-side, from enjoying meals and strategizing endeavors to observing daily life, connecting with our respective families, and marking special occasions,” he further stated. “My good fortune is inexpressible.”
Aldrin disclosed, “Upon encountering Anca, I immediately perceived her as a woman embodying the complete Wizard of Oz attributes: Intellect. Compassion. Bravery. There exists a unique quality about her and the remarkable synchronicity we share.”
Faur, for her part, informed the publication that she and Aldrin bonded “on a soulmate plane,” prompting discussions of matrimony “soon after our courtship commenced.”
She continued, “Throughout these years, we both sensed profoundly that our union was destined. Nevertheless, our courtship was so delightful that we perceived no urgency to hasten our vows.”

Aldrin again expressed his deep affection for his partner, 29 years his junior, on her birthday celebration earlier this year.
“A very joyful birthday to my beloved, Anca! I cherish every moment we share!” Aldrin wrote alongside a publicly affectionate photograph of the couple on X in March.
Before his connection with Faur, Aldrin had been wed on three previous occasions. He and his initial wife, Joan Archer, were united in marriage from 1954 until 1974. Archer passed away in July 2015 at 84 years old. They had three children together: James, Janice, and Andrew.
Aldrin married Beverly Zile in 1975; however, their union dissolved three years subsequent. The veteran astronaut was married to Driggs Cannon for 23 years prior to initiating divorce proceedings in 2011. Driggs Cannon passed away in July 2018, aged 88.
