Candace Cameron Bure Reveals Her Surprising Strategy for Handling Public Criticism
Candace Cameron Bure recently opened up, in an unusual move, about the various public disagreements she has encountered throughout her career, explaining her approach to managing the criticism she receives.
The former Full House star, aged 49, revealed her strategy for navigating the “peculiar” disputes, discussing it on the Monday, November 17, installment of Madison Prewett’s “Stay True” podcast.
“However, it simply feels strange. It’s odd,” Cameron Bure emphasized concerning the online criticism she has occasionally faced.
She elaborated, “My method for addressing them? I typically refrain from engaging in online arguments in the comments section, as it yields no productive outcome. In my opinion, responding defensively in comments often leads to a loss of credibility.”

Instead, the performer mentioned that she frequently chooses to allow such scenarios to unfold without her direct participation.
“I often entrust my online struggles to divine intervention. Furthermore, I allow my devoted followers to champion my cause as well,” she further explained. “Because occasionally they intervene, remarking, ‘She wouldn't do that. That isn't what she intended to convey by that comment,’” Cameron Bure noted. “It requires immense self-restraint, prompting you to think, ‘Lord, I must release this, as I cannot satisfy everyone, and please guide me to live a life that honors and pleases you to the best of my ability. Help me gain wisdom and understanding.’ That is paramount.”
Cameron Bure has been involved in numerous prominent disputes, frequently arising from her vocal expression of her conservative Christian convictions.
In July 2024, Cameron Bure openly voiced her disapproval of the Paris Olympics’ inaugural event, which included a drag act that appeared to depict the Last Supper.
“This is where the world’s top athletes contend for supremacy, so witnessing such a remarkable spectacle unfolding over the next fortnight, only to see the opening ceremonies completely desecrate and ridicule the Christian faith through their portrayal of the Last Supper, was utterly repulsive,” she posted on Instagram then.
Later, when Cameron Bure’s ex-Full House castmate Jodie Sweetin posted a video showing a comedian making fun of the Olympics dispute, fans speculated about animosity between the two.
In April, Sweetin, 43, spoke about the supposed disagreement on “The Vault” podcast, refuting claims that her upload targeted Cameron Bure. Nevertheless, Sweetin affirmed her stance on the matter.
“I am not retracting any of my previous statements,” she declared. “However, it was not intended as a deliberate jab. Yet, it conveyed precisely what I wished to express.”
Previously, Cameron Bure has also been vocal regarding her opinions on same-sex relationships, leading to anger from certain celebrity colleagues.
Cameron Bure had a disagreement with Raven-Symoné in 2015 concerning their divergent perspectives on an Oregon bakery that declined to provide a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.
The erstwhile Hallmark actress championed the bakers, asserting their right to uphold their religious liberties, whereas the 39-year-old Disney Channel veteran challenged the prejudice faced by the LGBTQIA+ community.
In November 2022, One Tree Hill former star Hilarie Burton Morgan labeled Cameron Bure a “bigot” following Cameron Bure’s announcement of leaving Hallmark to join the Great American Family network.
“My belief is that Great American Family will maintain traditional marriage as its fundamental principle,” Cameron Bure informed The Wall Street Journal back then.

Forty-eight hours later, Cameron Bure replied through an Instagram video, mentioning “individuals who dislike my principles and are assailing me digitally” and “those who have attempted to malign my reputation.” She did not explicitly name Burton Morgan, 43.
JoJo Siwa of Dance Moms similarly criticized Cameron Bure in July 2022, labeling the actress “impolite” in a TikTok post.
After the online upload, Cameron Bure contacted Siwa. Cameron Bure disclosed on Instagram that during a telephone conversation, they talked about the incident where the actress had declined to pose for a picture with Siwa, who was merely 11 years old then.
“‘I disappointed your young, 11-year-old self. Oh. I feel terrible,’” Cameron Bure recounted saying to Siwa during their call. She further stated, “Both of us are optimistic, supportive individuals, and I conveyed to JoJo my consistent admiration for her, as she has served as an excellent role model due to her positive outlook throughout her entire life and professional journey.”
Siwa, now 22, subsequently discussed the matter in a video acquired by PageSix in July 2022.
“I must clarify that while I had an unfavorable encounter, it does not imply she is an terrible person,” she stated. “I believe it was simply an inopportune moment for her, and my excited 11-year-old self was just so thrilled, but that doesn’t classify her as the absolute worst individual.”
