Cardi B Addresses Paternity Drama Amid Pregnancy News with Stefon Diggs

Global superstar Cardi B addressed recent reports concerning a paternity lawsuit filed against her partner, Stefon Diggs, appearing notably unfazed by the unfolding situation.

“Hello, Barbara, this is Shirley,” the 32-year-old Grammy recipient declared during a recent Instagram Live session, alluding to Shirley Brown’s iconic 1974 track “Woman to Woman,” a narrative detailing a wife confronting her husband’s lover.

“Is that your baby’s father, bh? He’s my baby’s father as well,” Cardi stated further, casually adding grated cheese to her food. “So, what happens next? I honestly don’t know. We’ll work it out, bh.”

At the start of this month, Us Weekly verified that the 31-year-old Diggs had responded to a paternity suit initiated by a woman named Aileen Lopera, concerning her 5-month-old daughter. Lopera, who welcomed her daughter Charliee on April 2, asserted in December 2024 court filings that she conceived a child with Diggs.

Lopera’s legal document sought exclusive legal and physical guardianship of the child, along with a declaration for the NFL player to be recognized as the biological father and granted visitation rights. Responding to the lawsuit in July, Diggs formally asked for “genetic testing to ascertain if” he was, in fact, the biological parent. The New England Patriots’ wide receiver further sought shared legal and physical custody of the child, should DNA results confirm his paternity.

Meanwhile, Cardi revealed on Wednesday, September 17, that she is anticipating her first child with Diggs. (The artist is already a mother to daughters Kulture, 7, and Blossom, 12 months, and son Wave, 4, from her marriage to estranged husband Offset.)

I was facing considerable criticism; as you know, some adore you, others despise you. And individuals were uttering very hurtful remarks about me,” Cardi elaborated. “And his response was simply, ‘Girl, you need to pull yourself together.’ … I believe that having a sense of safety and self-assurance empowers you to feel capable of conquering anything.”

Conversely, the romantic song “Safe” appears to revolve around the solace Diggs provides Cardi within their partnership. “I’ve been with several individuals, but no one has ever made me feel / Secure like you (Truth),” her lyrics state.
