Cardi B Flips Off Reporters and Throws Pen Amidst Pregnancy Rumors and Lawsuit Drama

Cardi B delivered a direct reply to a reporter who inquired about a possible fourth pregnancy amidst her ongoing assault lawsuit.

The 32-year-old rapper extended her middle finger towards photographers as she entered the courthouse in Alhambra, California, on Tuesday, September 2, where her civil trial is being held. This gesture was in response to someone asking her to confirm or deny recent rumors of pregnancy.

Later, as she was exiting the courthouse, Cardi (whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar) reportedly threw a pen at a journalist who asked about a potential pregnancy, according to video footage obtained by TMZ.

“Sources are alleging that Offset is publicly boasting about getting you pregnant for the fourth time. Do you foresee any familial complications with [Cardi’s boyfriend] Stefon Diggs?” the reporter questioned.

Cardi walked towards someone holding a pen and appeared to hurl it in the reporter’s direction, as depicted in the video.

“Stop treating me with disrespect,” she stated. “Do not disrespect me.”

The reporter yelled back, “I still admire you even though you just threw some items at me.”

Cardi responded, “I am unconcerned. You are being disrespectful; do not do that. Do you witness women posing such inquiries to me? Why do you, as a man, believe you have the right to ask me these types of questions? Exhibit some decorum. And your mother taught you: to respect women.”

Cardi shares daughter Kulture, 7, son Wave, 3, and daughter Blossom, 11 months, with her ex-husband Offset, 33.

Speculation that the “Bodak Yellow” artist is expecting her fourth child began circulating after she appeared in court last week to give testimony in the trial stemming from a 2020 assault lawsuit filed against her by security guard Emani Ellis.

Cardi had previously denied the pregnancy rumors during an Instagram Live session on August 21.

“‘You look 30 weeks pregnant’? No, you foolish individual,” she retorted to a fan who commented that she seemed breathless during her court appearance, as seen in a clip of the Live shared via X. “I am merely out of breath because I suffer from asthma … Cease being so flippant in this situation before you get completely blocked. That’s a senseless comment, do not attribute that to me.”

However, Cardi reignited the speculation once more after the Live ended by writing on X, “But AM I?…” Along with the post, she shared a GIF of Tokyo Toni raising her eyebrows.

Cardi’s courtroom appearances have garnered widespread attention several times during her $24 million assault trial. Ellis claimed in her lawsuit that Cardi physically attacked her in the hallway outside a Beverly Hills medical office in 2018, alleging that the “I Like It” rapper cut her face with a fingernail, spat on her, and used racial slurs during the purported altercation, which she claims arose because Cardi believed Ellis was recording her on a cellphone.

Ellis accused Cardi of assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and false imprisonment subsequent to the incident. She also asserted that Cardi “utilized her celebrity status” to have her dismissed from her employment and was allegedly involved in the destruction of surveillance footage.

Cardi, who was four months pregnant with Kulture at the time of the alleged incident but had not yet publicly disclosed her pregnancy, has denied any wrongdoing and claimed the plaintiff is solely seeking a financial settlement.

“I exclaimed, ‘Why are you recording me? Are you not supposed to be security?’” Cardi testified, maintaining that she never physically touched Ellis. “She is attempting to acquire money … because she is suing me for $24 million. It was a verbal disagreement. She did not strike me. I did not strike her. There was no physical contact. So, to me, it was not an incident.”
