Carly Waddell and Fiancé Todd Allen Tressler Call Off Engagement After Two Years
Carly Waddell and attorney Todd Allen Tressler have ended their engagement following a two-year relationship.
“I consistently share openly with you all, and I will do so now. My ring is no longer on my finger,” Waddell disclosed in a social media video posted in October 2025. “I terminated my engagement approximately a month prior. [My children and I] have relocated to a different urban area. This was not a choice I arrived at impulsively.”
Waddell commenced her relationship with Tressler in 2023, representing her initial romance following her separation from Evan Bass. Waddell encountered Bass during the third season of Bachelor in Paradise, leading to their marriage in 2017. Waddell and Bass, parents to daughter Bella and son Charlie, separated in 2020.
Once Waddell and Bass established a consistent coparenting dynamic, the vocalist began considering new romantic prospects.
“I envision a future where I am simply out and about, and I encounter an incredible man who truly captivates me,” Waddell shared exclusively with Us Weekly in May 2023. “I am attracting that outcome for myself. … I am content on my own. In fact, I am quite well. Our current life arrangement is so positive that the idea of someone entering and altering our routines now causes me some apprehension.”
After two months, Waddell encountered Tressler. Continue below for a comprehensive overview of their relationship progression:
July 2023
Waddell first saw Tressler, a legal professional, on television during an interview with a local news outlet. She found him attractive and noted his composed demeanor during the broadcast. Following several weeks of reflection, Waddell messaged him privately on Instagram. Tressler, in turn, acknowledged several of her posts with “likes.”
“I then ‘liked’ one of his posts before inquiring, ‘Are we simply going to continue liking each other’s content?’ He informed me that he preferred traditional communication and would appreciate speaking on the phone,” Waddell disclosed on Instagram the following year. “I extended a dinner invitation through a voice text that felt incredibly clumsy and which I believed would never transmit, but it [unintentionally] did. He found it amusing and agreed.”
Waddell agreed to Tressler’s proposal for an outing, describing the experience as “enchanting.”
Four months subsequently, Waddell announced on “The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous” podcast that she was in a new romantic relationship.
“He is more mature than I am,” she playfully hinted, choosing to withhold most specifics regarding Tressler. “He embodies every quality I have ever desired in an individual. His presence is incredibly comforting during chaotic periods in my life.”
October 2023
Waddell asked Tressler to marry her on Halloween, presenting him with an engagement band. Nevertheless, she chose not to disclose the details of their proposal story publicly.
March 2024
Waddell and Tressler formally acknowledged their relationship on Instagram.
“This is what I have been occupied with throughout the year. Cherishing my amiable attorney who also expressed that I showed him the meaning of genuine affection, and he has reciprocated that for me,” she posted, accompanying it with a collection of shared images. “I had intended to introduce him subtly … but this is the outcome. I consistently approach situations somewhat unconventionally compared to what might be expected.”
October 2024
Tressler proposed marriage to Waddell while they were on a vacation in Costa Rica accompanied by her children.
“To a fresh beginning with the man of my dreams, and the exquisite ring he placed on my left hand,” she declared on Instagram, specifying her personalized two-stone James Allen diamond ring.
June 2025
Tressler relocated to a new residence in Lebanon, Tennessee, joining Waddell and her children. (Waddell and her family had previously resided in the vicinity of Nashville.)
September 2025
Waddell declared on October 1 that she had terminated her engagement “one month prior.”
“I experience a profound sense of tranquility regarding this choice,” she stated in her Instagram video. “My children are thoroughly enjoying their new living situation. Candidly, navigating relationships post-divorce and with children presents considerable challenges. One must make arduous choices for their own well-being and that of their family. Thus, that is my current standing.”
Tressler did not promptly comment on their separation, although he removed all shared photographs from his Instagram account.
