It didn’t take long for Charles Melton’s romantic relationships to become public knowledge as he rose to prominence on Riverdale.

Melton discovered love on the set of The CW series with his costar and onscreen sweetheart Camila Mendes. The couple officially confirmed their relationship in 2018, with Mendes later explaining why she didn’t want to keep their connection hidden.

“I’m aware that I’m content, and I’m certain about my position in life. Therefore, I’m going to allow [people on Twitter] to express whatever opinions they have. Why should I be concerned? I’m not a private individual,” she told Teen Vogue in May 2019. ”I don’t enjoy concealing things. However, as I become more accustomed to this lifestyle, I frequently reassess what I want to share and what I prefer to keep private.”

During the same month, Melton exclusively shared with Us Weekly how he liked to express his affection for Mendes, saying, “I compose letters for my girlfriend. I mean, I don’t believe that’s the most romantic gesture, but, you know, it’s the small, simple things that I’ve done for her.”

After meeting on the set of Riverdale, Melton and Mendes became Instagram official in 2018. They split up a year later and Mendes began dating Grayson Vaughan, whom she was linked to from February 2020 to March 2021. Following her separation from Vaughan, Melton and Mendes sparked reconciliation rumors but ultimately ended things again by early 2022.

In April 2022, Melton was observed on a relaxed outing with Wonders in New York City. The pair collaborated on Wonders’ short film Wake earlier that year, which featured Melton in the lead role.
