Cher's son Elijah Blue Allman risks losing inheritance over unpaid spousal support to estranged wife

Cher’s son Elijah Blue Allman faces the potential forfeiture of the inheritance he received from his deceased father, musician Gregg Allman, to his estranged spouse, Marieangela King, in connection with outstanding support payments, Us Weekly can exclusively reveal.

On Friday, October 3, King filed court documents accusing Elijah, 49, of failing to make any payment since a court order mandated him to pay $6,500 per month for spousal support, along with an additional $10,000 to cover her legal expenditures.

In a sworn statement, King declared, “On September 21, 2025, a short time after [Elijah] was initially served with the court’s directives, I spoke with him on the phone. He acknowledged the court’s ruling and stated he would address the spousal support and fees. I have not received any payments from [Elijah]. To my understanding, he is staying at an expensive hotel and disregarding his financial duties.”

King stated that Elijah receives regular disbursements from Gregg’s estate as part of his legacy.

In her legal submission, King mentioned that a man named Michael Lehman was appointed as the executor of Gregg’s estate after Gregg passed away in 2017 at the age of 69. Lehman is responsible for overseeing Elijah’s finances.

King requested the court to instruct Lehman to pay Elijah’s monthly spousal maintenance and any outstanding back support. King asserts Elijah owes over $16,000 in arrears as of September 15.

In a financial disclosure, submitted as part of her plea for support, King claimed she needed financial assistance to maintain the “high standard” of living she experienced during her time with Elijah.

She detailed her monthly expenses, which included $5,000 for rent, $1,500 for groceries, $3,000 for entertainment, $500 for dining out, and other bills, amounting to a grand total of $12,000.

King stated, “I need financial aid to cover rent and my essential needs, as well as funds to pursue further education and employment to become financially independent.” She asserted that she had been unable to concentrate on her career throughout the marriage.

As Us previously reported, King initiated divorce proceedings on March 31. She listed the date of separation as that same day. Her petition also sought exclusive use of their marital residence in Los Angeles and the use of a 2017 Toyota Prius.

Cher's Son Elijah Asserts He Is ‘Not Mentally Unsound’ Amidst Conservatorship Dispute

The request for support followed Elijah’s hospitalization in June for an alleged overdose in Joshua Tree, California. He was released a few days later. Elijah has yet to comment publicly on the incident.

The purported overdose occurred months after singer Cher, 79, withdrew her petition to place her son in a court-ordered conservatorship. In her initial filing, Cher’s lawyer wrote, “Elijah is entitled to periodic payments from a trust established by his father for his benefit, but considering his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues, [Cher] is concerned that any funds disbursed to Elijah will immediately be spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself, and jeopardizing Elijah’s life.”

Elijah challenged the request, claiming he had maintained sobriety for several months.

In January 2024, Elijah informed the court, “I am clean and sober from illicit substances for over 90 days now, and I am entirely capable of and committed to managing the money I receive quarterly from the trust bequeathed by my late father.” The case was dismissed by Cher in September 2024.
