Cheryl Hines reveals her strategy for handling marriage rumors and speculation

Cheryl Hines is sharing her approach to managing gossip and speculation concerning her union with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“I believe you must always assess the origin, wouldn't you agree?” she revealed in a preview of “The Katie Miller Podcast” episode set for Tuesday, October 28, obtained by Politico. “That's my starting point, and it concludes with a discussion with Bobby.”

According to the publication, Hines, 60, also spoke about her husband's supposed liaison with journalist Olivia Nuzzi during her latest podcast interview. (Kennedy, 71, has denied the affair and stated he only met Nuzzi, 32, once.)

“Bobby had been campaigning for president, and it was an arduous year and a half of headlines, whispers, articles, and turmoil,” Hines recounted to host Katie Miller. “And at that time, I thought, ‘Alright, this is just more upheaval and more speculation.’ And, um, it was quite a lot.”

Instances Where Cheryl Hines Has Supported Her Husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

On October 14, Status reported that Nuzzi intends to release a memoir detailing her life, with early copies already privately distributed to a select group of insiders.

When queried about the rumored book, Hines remarked, “I am unfamiliar with this individual. I don't know their motives. I could speculate, but I choose not to. Though you are welcome to, if you wish.”

Us Weekly has attempted to contact Nuzzi's representatives for comment.

In September 2024, Hines' marriage came under close examination when reports emerged alleging that Kennedy engaged in a sexting relationship with Nuzzi, who was serving as a New York magazine political correspondent during the 2024 election cycle.

New York magazine published a public apology at the time, informing its readers that Nuzzi had failed to disclose a “personal relationship” with an unidentified subject she profiled during her 2024 election coverage for the publication.

Neither New York magazine nor Nuzzi publicly identified Kennedy, yet numerous media outlets reported that the subject in question was indeed Kennedy.

“The connection was never physical but should have been revealed to prevent any appearance of a conflict,” Nuzzi — who is now a West Coast editor for Vanity Fair — later stated in a communication to The New York Times. “I deeply regret not doing so immediately and extend my apologies to those I've disappointed, especially my colleagues at New York.”

A representative for Kennedy also informed NBC News, “Mr. Kennedy only encountered Olivia Nuzzi once in his life for an interview she requested, which resulted in a critical article.”

Despite all the ongoing discussion surrounding her marriage, Hines — who recently released her own memoir titled Unscripted — continues to support her husband, who currently holds the position of Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“I don't believe there's any benefit in dissecting every rumor and headline to attempt a defense or explanation,” Hines told the Wall Street Journal in August. “Bobby and I discuss everything, and that's how we navigate all situations; we are truly good friends, and we trust one another.”

The actress further noted, “One might logically conclude that we love each other, remain married, and whatever challenges we have faced are now in the past.”
