Chris Pine Sued Again as Neighbor Claims Actor is Blocking Home Renovation
A neighbor of Hollywood star Chris Pine in Los Angeles has initiated legal proceedings, seeking immediate enforcement of an agreement she previously reached with the actor and his representatives concerning their dispute over trees and property boundaries, an exclusive report from Us Weekly reveals.
Court documents were submitted on Tuesday, December 2, by Pine's neighbor, Helen Yu, appealing to a judge for intervention in the ongoing situation.
In 2023, Yu, a legal professional specializing in entertainment law, filed a lawsuit against Pine, who is 45 years old, and Bradley Lyon, alleging trespass, nuisance, and negligence.
Lyon serves as the trustee for the actor's trust, which holds ownership of Pine's residence, with Pine himself designated as the beneficiary.
Yu’s legal complaint detailed that her property shares a border with Pine's residence, a 2,205-square-foot dwelling featuring three bedrooms and three bathrooms, which he acquired in 2010.
Yu expressed concern that Pine had planted numerous Ficus Benjamina trees, asserting that their "invasive root systems" inflicted significant harm upon her land.

The acclaimed Star Trek star rejected these accusations and subsequently filed a counter-lawsuit against Yu.
He contended that Yu had erected a fence positioned on his land.
His request to the court was that Yu be instructed to remove and relocate the fence.
Yu, for her part, refuted all claims of improper conduct.
The dispute was resolved just days prior to the scheduled court confrontation between the neighbors, according to In Touch magazine.
Yu's latest filing detailed that their agreed-upon settlement entailed monetary compensation, which has been fulfilled, the removal of the trees, and the signing of documents to address the fence situation.
(Yu stated that specific payments originated from the insurance provider for Pine and Lyon, while other payments were made by her own insurance firm.)
Yu indicated that Pine had consented to her fence remaining in its current location, but she required him and his representatives to sign the necessary documentation.
She claimed that Lyon has withheld the crucial final signature for several months, creating complications as she is currently undertaking construction on her residence.
“This hold-up significantly affects [Yu] as she is presently engaged in home renovations,” Yu’s legal counsel asserted. “She is unable to move forward without the required permit.”
“Instead of merely providing the documents to [Yu’s] attorney (documents that already exist and have been signed), for almost two months, [Lyon] has demonstrated a pattern of postponement followed by silence, misleading [Yu] with hollow promises and ultimately ceasing all communication.”
Yu’s attorney further stated, “[Lyon’s ongoing unwillingness to hand over the necessary papers has denied [Yu] a significant (in fact, core) term of the Settlement Agreement, compelled [Yu] to incur legal costs … and resulted in subsequent damages through setbacks in her home construction.”

The petition requested that the court declare a breach of the settlement and mandate the immediate completion of the paperwork, in addition to awarding Yu her attorney fees.
Neither the actor from The Poolman nor Lyon has, at this point, commented on Yu’s assertions.
Prior to reaching their initial agreement, Pine and Yu engaged in protracted legal exchanges in court over several months.
Yu dismissed Pine’s efforts to compel her to relocate her fence.
Her legal representative contended, “The difficulties [Yu] would face if compelled to remove enhancements from the contested land would be vastly out of proportion to any inconvenience [Pine] might endure if those improvements are allowed to stay.”
During the proceedings, Yu further alleged that Pine was fabricating reasons to circumvent giving a deposition in the litigation.
On one occasion, Yu’s legal representatives asserted, “Either [Pine] is unwilling to be deposed, or his attorney is trying to circumvent the trial court’s decision that rejected his latest request to postpone the trial, by declining to assist in arranging [Pine’s] deposition and allowing discovery to be finalized.”
Pine’s lawyer rejected any suggestion of an effort to prolong the lawsuit.
The judge subsequently mandated Pine’s deposition several weeks thereafter.
