Chris Pratt Reveals Faith Fueled First Meeting with Katherine Schwarzenegger
Chris Pratt has clarified the details of his first encounter with his spouse, Katherine Schwarzenegger, attributing a significant role to his religious beliefs.
During a segment on FOX News’ FOX & Friends with Steve Doocy on Tuesday, December 2, the 46-year-old Pratt dispelled speculation that his mother-in-law, Maria Shriver, facilitated his introduction to Schwarzenegger, 35.
The Guardians of the Galaxy star stated, “That’s actually not true,” disclosing that his meeting with Schwarzenegger occurred in a less arranged manner.
He recounted, “Let’s clarify this once and for all. I encountered my wife at a church. I was attending a service in Hollywood, and I noticed her across the room.” He added, “While one isn’t typically expected to be observing women in church, I am merely human. My immediate thought was, ‘Wow, she’s incredibly attractive.’”

Pratt mentioned that at the time he first saw Schwarzenegger at church, he was accompanied by his oldest son, Jack, who is 13 years old and whose mother is his ex-wife, Anna Faris. (Pratt and Faris, 49, separated in 2017, with their divorce becoming official the subsequent year.)
“I was present with my son Jack; I had just collected him from the children's program, and Jack and I essentially met Katherine concurrently,” he further explained. “Indeed, the subsequent events are well-known.”
Pratt and Schwarzenegger exchanged vows in 2019 during a ceremony held in Montecito, California, surrounded by their intimate circle of relatives and companions. They welcomed their first daughter, Lyla Maria, currently aged 5, in August 2020, then their second daughter, Eloise Christina, now 3, in May 2022, and most recently, their son Ford Fitzgerald, who is 13 months old, having been born in November 2024.
On Tuesday, the actor from Jurassic World was also questioned about whether his children had viewed his films and if “they are aware that their father is among the planet’s most renowned individuals.”
Pratt responded, “No, I intend to at a later time, when it is appropriate. … I have children who are 1, 3, and 5 years old.” He continued, “My eldest, Jack, who is 13, has seen all of them, but my three youngest haven't yet shown much interest, which is noteworthy, as we were at a coffee shop recently in Malibu, and several young women from the Pepperdine volleyball team approached and asked, ‘Excuse me, may we take a photograph?’ And I replied, ‘Hello,’ – I was accompanied by my daughters — I explained, ‘You know, I typically avoid that when I’m with them because they aren’t aware of my profession or what this entails, but what are your names?’”
“It was a very pleasant exchange, and I didn't — and we engaged in a conversation,” Pratt added. “My children were observing me with expressions that seemed to ask, ‘Why do those individuals wish to photograph you?’ I jokingly told them, ‘I'm not sure. I believe they might be eccentric.’”
Pratt disclosed that during the current holiday period, his family unit of six, which includes stepchildren, is undertaking “an advent prayer challenge” within their residence.
Pratt elaborated, “Certainly, the holiday season is wonderful, everyone enjoys all the festivities and Christmas, but it can also be quite demanding.” He continued, “Therefore, the concept is to engage in a prayer challenge throughout December, committing to daily prayer and carving out a moment in your routine. It involves, you know, under 10 minutes each day using the [Hallow] app to truly achieve a sense of inner peace.”
FOX News’ FOX & Friends is broadcast every weekday between 6 and 9 a.m. ET.
