Christina Applegate disclosed her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in August 2021 and has been open about the impact of the illness on her daily existence ever since.
“It’s been an unusual experience,” she posted on X at the time. “However, I’ve received considerable encouragement from individuals I know who also live with this condition. It’s been a challenging period. But as we are all aware, life continues onward. Unless someone inconsiderate obstructs it.”
The National MS Society reports that the condition impacts the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Potential symptoms can encompass sensations of numbness, prickling, discomfort, exhaustion, difficulties with memory, shifts in emotional state, vision loss, and loss of movement.
Applegate has provided regular updates regarding her health since publicly announcing her diagnosis. In January 2026, she described a recent worsening of her condition and voiced concerns that MS might be “eroding” her.
