Christine Brown Drops Kody Brown Bombshell in New Memoir, He Was Kept in the Dark
Sister Wives personality Christine Brown chose not to inform her former husband, Kody Brown, about her recently launched memoir.
When questioned by Access on Tuesday, September 2, about whether Kody received prior notice, Christine, 53, replied, “He likely knows nothing contained within it.” She elaborated, “Was it necessary? No, I didn’t. Kody and I don't engage in much conversation.”
Christine chronicled her life alongside Kody, 56, in her book, Sister Wife: A Memoir of Faith, Family and Finding Freedom, which was released on Tuesday. While Christine stated she had an “immediate connection” with Kody, the intimate aspect of their bond was largely absent.
The pair had a courtship of three months before solemnizing their marriage in 1994. Christine's first kiss with Kody took place at the altar.
“I recall Kody opening the door and observing me in my flowing dress. I remember realizing he was anxious on our wedding day,” she penned. “I remember recognizing he was not as enthusiastic to marry me as I was to marry him.”

She continued, “Kody gave me a brief peck, merely touching my lips.” She added, “You know how people tend to applaud after that altar kiss? Silence.”
Following the exchange of their marital vows, Christine had her first sexual experience with Kody.
“Looking back, I anticipated it would be the most extraordinary night of my existence — pure enchantment,” Christine recounted. “We lodged in a castle-themed motel near Ogden, Utah.”
Christine documented that the encounter was “incredibly painful” and she “shed tears” during the act.
“It hurt due to the complete lack of foreplay. There was absolutely nothing,” she further explained. “It was my inaugural experience after having my first ever kiss at the altar, and he was seasoned, so he should have understood.”
Christine clarified that she “imagined holding hands, moonlight, gentle touches” for their first night together — and their subsequent marriage.
“I envisioned feeling beautiful and cherished. I envisioned a tender acknowledgment of our eternal journey together,” she went on. “For the remainder of our honeymoon, I was too sore to attempt it again.”
Kody maintained a plural marriage with Christine, alongside Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Robyn Brown. He and Christine publicly announced their separation in November 2021. Janelle, 56, parted ways with Kody in December 2022, while he and Meri, 54, ended their relationship in January 2023. He remains married to Robyn, 46.

Christine, who disclosed a struggle with painkiller addiction in the book, was equally forthright about Robyn in the memoir. (Kody commenced courting Robyn while Christine was expecting their youngest daughter, Truely.)
“A camera crew also followed Kody as he departed that day. He hastened home to Robyn,” Christine shared in an excerpt from the book last month. “He needed to check in on, I don’t know, the children [or] her feelings concerning my labor.”
Kody’s relationships with the three women have been documented on TLC’s Sister Wives since 2010, which is currently preparing for its 20th season, slated to premiere on Sunday, September 28, at 10 p.m. ET.
