Ciara's son Future Zahir Officially Adopts Russell Wilson Surname
Singer Ciara's son, Future Zahir, has officially adopted the surname Wilson.
The acclaimed vocalist has incorporated the last name of her spouse of nine years, New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson, into the designation of her 11-year-old child, whose biological father is rapper Future. Ciara, aged 39, and Future, aged 41, announced their engagement in 2013, with their son arriving the subsequent year. Their relationship concluded in 2014, reportedly due to allegations of the rapper's unfaithfulness.
Currently, Ciara possesses sole legal guardianship of Future Zahir, and the alteration to his name took place "some years ago," according to insiders who spoke with TMZ. (She and Wilson, 36, are also parents to daughters Sienna, 8, and Amora, 21 months, alongside son Win, 5.)
Observers initially noticed Future Zahir's updated surname when Wilson shared a family snapshot from the US Open on his Instagram Story earlier this week, labeling the image “Mrs. @ciara Wilson Future Wilson & Sienna Wilson."

According to TMZ, Future's biological father's surname, Wilburn, remains a component of his official legal designation; however, a 2023 conversation with Ciara suggests a lack of harmony in their co-parenting dynamic.
During an interview with The Shade Room's Thembi that September, Ciara responded to a question about co-parenting with Future by bursting into uncontrollable laughter.
“Alright, I believe that speaks volumes,” Thembi remarked in return.
With a family of four children, Ciara reflected on "some of the most significant periods" of her existence during an August discussion with Us Weekly, following the debut of her eighth studio album, CiCi.

“Upon looking back at my journey, it was incredible to realize I delivered two of my cherished infants, Win and Amora, concurrently with the creation of this album,” she stated. “Additionally, I had the privilege of touring during this period. Truthfully, life was exceedingly busy and somewhat disorderly. If I may, I refer to it as a positive form of disorder.”
Even with her numerous commitments, Ciara mentioned making a conscious effort to allocate personal time.
“I’ve been accepting myself through each phase, extending self-compassion when necessary, as there has certainly been a great deal happening,” she further explained. “Nonetheless, if I have to say, there's no greater feeling than having your life filled with everything you wish for, aspire to, and envision. This current phase unmistakably mirrors that sentiment.”
She also noted that her track “Made It,” featured on the album CiCi, serves as an encapsulation of her personal progression and the way her “life has transformed.”
“I’ve experienced numerous highs and lows, and I've been compelled to implement substantial alterations in my life over time,” she remarked. “Fortunately, it has all culminated in something truly wonderful. I am incredibly eager to finally present it to the public.”
