Cocaine's Hidden Toll Celebrities' Damaged Noses Revealed

A number of public figures have experienced harm to the cartilage dividing their nostrils, linked to their use of cocaine.

Come November 2025, Paris Jackson, the offspring of the iconic Michael Jackson, disclosed that her nasal structure had sustained injury attributable to substance use.

“I became aware that I had never spoken about this, and it can often be quite apparent,” Paris articulated in a social media clip circulated across TikTok. “I possess a distinct, audible whistling sound when I inhale through my nose, a direct result of a condition known as a perforated septum.”

The Cleveland Clinic defines a perforated septum as an opening in the cartilaginous or bony partition separating the nasal passages, potentially stemming from autoimmune conditions, illicit drug consumption, chemical exposure, infections, trauma, or, in infrequent instances, growths.

Paris indicated that the origin of her perforated septum was “precisely what one might infer.”

“Refrain from using drugs, young ones,” she advised. “Or don’t. Ultimately, each individual will encounter the experiences essential for their life journey. I won’t dictate choices to anyone. However, I advise against it, as it detrimentally impacted my own existence.”

Should you or an acquaintance be grappling with addiction, reach out to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357).
