Prior to his untimely passing, Dallas Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland was backed by his girlfriend, Catalina Mancera.
On November 5, 2025, Mancera contacted law enforcement, seeking assistance for Kneeland before he tragically ended his own life in the early hours of November 6.
At that moment, a 911 operator stated in audio acquired by TMZ Sports, “We are communicating with his partner.” The dispatcher continued, “She is attempting to reach his representative. We are encouraging her to contact him directly first.”
Mancera informed officials that Kneeland possessed “a background of mental health struggles.”

The Cowboys confirmed Kneeland’s passing on November 6, 2025. He was 24 years of age.

Our sincerest condolences and thoughts are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family during this difficult time.”

Marshawn Kneeland and Catalina Mancera Maintained a Largely Private Relationship
While Kneeland and Mancera mostly maintained a low public profile for their romance, she frequently posted remarks on his Instagram.
“That’s my man,” Mancera commented on a June post featuring images from Cowboys training camp.
Kneeland captioned the photo gallery, “Weakness is not shameful. Remaining weak is.”
During May, Kneeland posted several images of his deceased mother, Wendy, who passed away in February 2024.
Mancera remarked, “You know she would be incredibly proud of all you’ve achieved thus far, baby.”
In January, Kneeland uploaded a further collection of photographs, showcasing some notable moments from his NFL debut season.

Catalina Mancera Speaks Out Following Marshawn Kneeland’s Demise
The Frisco Police Department stated that Kneeland died by suicide after crashing his vehicle during a law enforcement chase.
In November 2025, several days later, Mancera shared with the Daily Mail, “I am experiencing profound sorrow at this moment.” She added, “It will be a considerable period before I feel prepared to discuss anything extensively.”
At that point, Mancera further disclosed that she was “only just beginning” the arrangements for a memorial service.
“We are currently organizing the funeral details,” she informed the publication. “I am not yet aware of the location.”
Marshawn Kneeland and Catalina Mancera Anticipating Their First Child
At a press conference on November 12, 2025, Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer announced that the team initiated a fundraising effort in Kneeland’s memory to provide aid to Mancera.
Schottenheimer stated, “I wish to take a moment to extend my sympathies to Marshawn’s family, and to Catalina, his partner,” thereby confirming that Mancera is expecting. He continued, “Last evening, we had the chance to honor Marshawn’s life, recount anecdotes. We shared, laughed, and shed tears. Marshawn cherished the phrase ‘one love.’ Thus, we spoke extensively about love as we mourn. I was able to share a few aspects of Marshawn that I will miss most dearly.”
He further remarked, “My spirit is weighed down, as is my team’s. We do not simply move past this, but we do progress onward.”
