Dak Prescott Shares Heartbreak Over Teammate Marshawn Kneeland's Tragic Death
Following the unexpected passing of his Dallas Cowboys teammate Marshawn Kneeland, quarterback Dak Prescott has shared his sentiments publicly.
The 32-year-old Prescott addressed the “heartbreaking loss” on Thursday, November 6, conveying to CBS Sports Texas, “Today has been exceptionally difficult. The news reached me early this morning.”
He then extended his thoughts to Kneeland’s family and friends.
“I am in pain. My heart is incredibly heavy today. I grieve for Marshawn, and I grieve for his family,” he expressed. “I grieve for his partner, and I grieve for each of my fellow teammates.”

Prescott further stated: “This is a type of suffering one would not wish on anyone. You hope that none of us would ever experience such an event. You wish Marshawn had not endured what he did.”
In his heartfelt remembrance, Prescott recognized that it was an “emotionally challenging day for various reasons.” He also implored individuals to cherish life, advising, “Embrace and express affection to those dear to you.”
The Kneeland family — comprising his father, Shawn, and siblings AJ, Shawn, and Yahmya — officially announced his passing at 24 years old on Thursday.

While Marshawn was establishing his presence on the gridiron with the Dallas Cowboys, his role off the field was even more significant — as a dedicated son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, grandson, and companion.”
The Frisco Police Department reported that Kneeland's death was ruled a suicide, occurring after a police pursuit in the early hours of Thursday. Law enforcement officers had attempted to stop him for a traffic infraction, subsequently discovering his vehicle wrecked on the Dallas Parkway.
Kneeland was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Just days prior to his demise, the defensive end achieved his inaugural career touchdown during the team’s matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
