Daniel Stern Faces Allegations of Soliciting Prostitution

Home Alone star Daniel Stern is reportedly facing legal action after allegedly arranging to pay for sexual services.

Stern, 68, was purportedly at a hotel in Camarillo, California, on December 10, 2025, when officers from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department issued him a citation for allegedly soliciting prostitution, according to official police records obtained by TMZ in a report published on Friday, January 9.

The same report indicates that Stern was not taken into custody or formally arrested in connection with the alleged incident. Us Weekly has reached out to representatives for Stern to request a statement.

Stern enjoyed a prosperous Hollywood career alongside his fame from Home Alone, including memorable roles in The Wonder Years and City Slickers. Following his return as the hapless criminal Marv in Home Alone 2, Stern continued to appear in films such as Rookie of the Year, Viva Las Vegas, A Previous Engagement and City Slickers II.

He has been married to Laure Mattos since 1980. The couple share three children, including California State Senator Henry Stern. They celebrated their enduring relationship with a surprise vow renewal ceremony on the now-concluded The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2019.

While Stern has largely retreated from the public eye, he has been the subject of recent news coverage, including a reported hospital visit in October 2025 following an unspecified medical issue. According to TMZ, who initially reported the incident, firefighters responded to a call at Stern’s California residence and subsequently transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was later discharged. At the time, a spokesperson for the actor confirmed he was in good health.

Stern also garnered attention in 2024, when he discussed his salary negotiations for Home Alone 2 following the success of the original film.

“I received a notification informing me that the filming schedule had been revised, and my presence would now be required for eight weeks instead of six,” the actor wrote in his memoir, Home and Alone. “They were requesting an additional 33 percent of my time on set, so I inquired whether they would correspondingly increase my salary, and they declined.”

Stern was initially compensated $300,000 for six weeks of work on the initial film, he explained. After questioning his compensation threatened his involvement in the sequel, Stern stated he eventually received a call from the producers, who expressed their desire for him to return to the movie so they would “honor the original agreement and maintain the six-week schedule.”

According to the actor, he was offered $600,000 to participate in Home Alone 2.

“Double my initial salary, but not quite the substantial sum I had hoped for,” he wrote in his book, noting that he asked if that figure was “equivalent” to what Pesci was earning.

“They stated that it was not,” Stern claimed.

The actor said he was ultimately able to secure a higher salary for Home Alone 2, reaching $800,000, after learning that Pesci was receiving “somewhere between $2,000,000 and $3,000,000 plus a percentage of the film’s gross earnings.”

“I understood they couldn’t proceed with the film without me, but I also felt a degree of insecurity, given that I had nearly jeopardized my role the first time around,” he wrote, revealing that he eventually persuaded the studio to agree to a salary of $1.5 million and 1 percent of the gross profits. “I didn’t want to be overly demanding when I cherished the movie and the character so much.”
