Dawson Leery's Iconic House Hits the Market for $3.25 Million

The iconic residence known as Dawson Leery's house is now seeking a new proprietor — with aspirations for a successful sale.

Located in Wilmington, North Carolina, this property is on the market for $3,250,000, featuring four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The dwelling spans 2,465 square feet and occupies a 1.7-acre plot.

“With its distinct white exterior, expansive veranda, and iconic dock, it grew into a pivotal element of the series' narrative, serving as an immediate emblem of seaside living and adolescent reminiscence,” stated the property's advertisement.

This residence played a significant role in Dawson’s Creek, the drama revolving around an aspiring director named Dawson (James Van Der Beek) and his close-knit circle of companions: Pacey (Joshua Jackson), Joey (Katie Holmes), and Jen (Michelle Williams).

The Ensemble of ‘Dawson’s Creek’: Current Endeavors?

Beyond its television persona, the house has been continuously owned by the Tremaine Twins, an artist family, since the 1800s.

“Our #residence has consistently been passed down within our family since its construction in 1880. Our mother, Margaret, was present throughout the entire filming period of #DawsonsCreek and was deeply cherished by both the cast and crew, a warmth that resonated within the series. This connection is why her house truly became the focal point of the immensely popular program,” they shared in an Instagram announcement regarding the listing.

The statement went on to say, “Every relative, both current and historical, who has resided here represented devoted families, imbuing this enchanting dwelling with affection. The home was perpetually vibrant with music and artistic expression. Margaret herself was an exceptional musician and a skilled artist, and her offspring adopted her compassionate nature, musical talents, and artistic flair.”

The family's message conveyed that Margaret recently passed away, and they are “deeply saddened to depart.”

The Actress Who Played James Van Der Beek’s Mother on 'Dawson's Creek' Continues to Prepare Birthday Treats for Him

“Our wish is that our abode finds occupants who will treasure it. This formidable structure, built with substantial hand-hewn lumber salvaged from vessels wrecked nearby on the #IntracoastalWaterway, is truly a robust stronghold,” the Instagram entry declared. “For almost 150 years, the house has withstood hurricanes and all other natural challenges. It originated as a seasonal residence and was among the initial constructions on #HewlettsCreek; currently, it stands as the most ancient property in what we refer to as #TheSound (Greenville Sound).”

The listing of the Leery family's residence follows by several months the auction of Joey's Bed and Breakfast. Although that particular house was offered for sale, the plot of land it occupied was not — the structure itself having been relocated across the property years prior.

“The dwelling REQUIRES relocation from its present site,” the advertisement specified back then. “The underlying land is EXCLUDED from the transaction. The successful bidder will bear all expenses and coordination tasks linked to moving the building.”

James Van Der Beek Shares Thoughts as Daughter Reaches 'Dawson's Age'

The successful participant in that auction was not publicly disclosed.

Almost thirty years following its debut, various cast members convened for a philanthropic gathering, coinciding with Van Der Beek’s struggle against stage 3 colorectal cancer. Van Der Beek himself disclosed just hours earlier that he would be absent, contending with “two gastric illnesses.” Nonetheless, Mary-Margaret Humes, who portrayed Van Der Beek’s mother on the show, ensured her presence.

“My initial call came directly from James,” Humes revealed in an exclusive statement for Us Weekly’s September cover feature. “He informed me that Michelle was organizing this, offering an opportunity for all of us to truly reunite and commemorate James’ journey. He is currently navigating a highly challenging, though optimistically approached, circumstance. As his television family, we collectively felt it was imperative to support him and show our solidarity.”
