DeAnna Pappas' Ex No Longer Required to Pay Child Support Following Uber Driver Revelation

The former Bachelorette contestant, DeAnna Pappas, saw her child support payments cease entirely after her former spouse, Stephen Stagliano, informed the court of his employment as an Uber driver and his difficulties securing alternative work, an exclusive revelation by Us Weekly.

Monday, October 20, marked the attendance of Pappas, 43, her legal counsel, and Stagliano, 41, at the Los Angeles Superior Court. After considering arguments from both individuals, the court decreed that Stagliano's obligation to provide child support would be terminated, with this decision applying from May onwards.

According to their divorce agreement reached in March 2024, Stagliano had previously been mandated to provide Pappas with $1,000 monthly for child support and an additional $1,500 each month for spousal support.

Court filings show Stagliano indicated his former role as CEO and founder of a gaming enterprise known as Story Games Inc. He detailed becoming jobless on April 1, subsequent to the company's inability to obtain further investment.

On September 30, Stagliano conveyed to the court, “I am rigorously pursuing employment opportunities. I have submitted applications for more than 150 positions across diverse sectors without success. I utilize Uber driving as a means to earn money when feasible. I have consistently provided $1,500 in Alimony to [Pappas] each month.”

In his declaration, Stagliano reported his earnings for the previous month amounted to $436. He claimed to possess $10,089 in his bank account, yet his total monthly expenditures reached $7,437. He detailed spending $4,300 for housing, $550 for food, $100 for dining out, $450 for utilities, and other miscellaneous charges. Furthermore, he disclosed a debt exceeding $36,000 across a vehicle loan and two credit cards.

An April 14 court submission revealed Stagliano informed the court, “My economic circumstances have undergone a significant transformation. I am actively seeking employment.”

Stagliano explained that at the time he committed to providing Pappas $1,000 monthly in support, he was employed as a manager at Riot Games, with a gross monthly income of $12,750, amounting to $175,000 annually inclusive of bonuses. He further stated that upon departing Riot Games in 2023 to launch his own venture, his yearly income decreased to approximately $150,000.

“The enterprise I sought to establish was a studio focused on gaming entertainment. I dedicated considerable time and personal capital to this undertaking. Although I achieved certain milestones — such as assembling a full-time staff, developing a preliminary version, drawing initial investment interest, and releasing an audio book — the business failed to produce consistent revenue due to the prevailing gaming market environment and insufficient capital.”

He stated his cumulative income for 2024 totaled $24,000. At that point, Stagliano clarified, “I have participated in two interviews to date, but received no job offers. I am actively engaging with colleagues in my field and prospective clients, as well as refining my portfolio and curriculum vitae to suit positions within the gaming, educational, sports, and entertainment sectors. I am investigating both permanent and temporary employment options, even coaching soccer and jiu-jitsu merely to generate any income possible.”

“Despite my persistent endeavors, I have been unable to secure a consistent or adequate income stream, prompting my plea for an adjustment to child support that accurately mirrors my present financial standing,” Stagliano penned. Pappas contested her former husband’s petition to diminish his support obligations.

According to court documents submitted by Pappas, she was earning more than $16,000 monthly but was terminated from her position as a flight attendant with a California-headquartered firm in June.

Pappas is actively pursuing flight attendant roles while simultaneously developing the recently launched podcast she initiated.
