A preview trailer for The Secrets We Bury features Mike recounting a neighbor approaching his front door to give his mother a container of his father’s belongings. Although Mike didn't overhear the conversation between the neighbor and his mother, he sensed a visible “anger” between them.
After Mike inquired why the man possessed George’s items, Dorothy disclosed that their neighbor was actually married to George’s mother.
Upon realizing his grandmother lived next door for years and was even on his newspaper delivery route, Mike admitted he started questioning other elements of his family history. “I collected money from that house for years and my grandmother was there? And she never said hello?” Mike asks in the trailer, adding that he also wondered why his deceased mother never informed him that his grandmother resided so nearby.
