Demi Moore and Billy Bob Thornton Rekindle Friendship and Recreate Iconic Pose at Landman Premiere

Demi Moore and Billy Bob Thornton showed playful affection at the season 2 premiere of Landman.

Moore, 62, and Thornton, 70, attended the red-carpet event at the Ted Mann Theater before the Paramount+ drama's second season screening on Thursday, October 30, where the co-stars replicated a famous stance Thornton once shared with Angelina Jolie during their union from 2000 to 2003.

Dressed in jeans, a sleeveless shirt, and a trucker hat, Thornton positioned himself behind Moore, who was clad in a form-fitting denim dress, encircling her waist with his arms. Moore placed her hands on his and smiled for the cameras as he inclined his head towards hers. The Substance actress then covered her face with her hands, appearing to respond to a remark made by Thornton.

Thornton and Moore share an enduring friendship that began with their 1993 movie, Indecent Proposal. In 2024, Thornton — who married puppeteer Connie Angland in 2014 — enthusiastically stated that Moore and her former spouse Bruce Willis are considered “like family” to him.

“She has consistently been a delight,” Thornton commented to Fox News Digital regarding Moore. “She was incredibly kind to me when we initially met, back when I only had a brief role in a film she led, and her warmth remains unchanged today.”

Subsequent to his collaboration with Moore on Indecent Proposal, Thornton appeared alongside Willis, 70, in films such as 1998’s Armageddon, 2001’s Bandits, and 2006’s The Astronaut Farmer. (Willis, who is presently facing frontotemporal dementia, was wed to Moore between 1987 and 2000. They are parents to daughters Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31.)

“My bond with Bruce has always been strong,” Thornton continued. “Bruce and I collaborated on three films … Demi often brought their children to visit us on set. Therefore, I’ve considered them family for a significant period … she’s incredible.”

Moore and Thornton came together again for Landman season 2, which was shot between April and August. Even with their shared past, Thornton mentioned at the series' FYC event in June that Moore “did not recall” him, as reported by People.

Although Moore and Thornton share no romantic past, the Goliath actor has had relationships with numerous other women. His initial marriage was to Melissa Lee Gatlin from 1978 to 1980, a period during which they had their daughter Amanda, 46.

Thornton subsequently wed Toni Lawrence in 1986. They separated in 1987 and finalized their divorce in 1988. After their breakup, he began a relationship with actress Cynda Williams. The former couple was married from 1990 to 1992.

Billy then married Playboy model Pietra Dawn Cherniak in 1993, and together they had two sons, William, 32, and Harry, 30.

Subsequent to his relationship with Laura Dern from 1997 to 1999, Thornton married Jolie, 50, in 2000. The former partners then separated in 2002 and concluded their divorce in 2003.

“I made a mistake because I believed I wasn’t worthy of her,” he reflected on his marriage to Jolie during a 2012 interview on Nightline. “She desired to live her life in a particular manner, and I had my own distinct path, and I was simply too self-conscious. I truly felt like the Phantom of the Opera concealing himself in the crypts. People have indeed stated that I was undeserving of being with her.”

Thornton encountered Angland, 61, in May 2003, and they welcomed their daughter Bella, 21, in September 2004, a short time after commencing their relationship. The couple discreetly married a decade later in October 2024.
