Denise Richards Weeps in Court Alleging Husband's Behavior Prevented Daughter's Religious Attendance
According to Us Weekly, Denise Richards wept openly while giving her testimony against her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, alleging that his behavior prevented her daughter from attending religious services.
On October 8, a Wednesday, Richards, aged 54, who previously secured a temporary restraining order on July 17, appeared in court for a third day in her ongoing effort to secure a permanent restraining order against Phypers, aged 53. (Phypers contests all accusations of mistreatment).
During the proceedings, Richards acknowledged contacting Phypers on September 2, despite the existing restraining order. She stated she had to inform him about problems concerning their landlord. Richards departed their shared marital residence in 2023 for her personal townhome, and Phypers and his relatives have occupied the former home since then.
The ex-star of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills explained that she contacted Phypers to prevent a lawsuit from the landlord.
When asked about making five calls to Phypers on August 21, Richards clarified that on that date, she sent him a video addressing recent interviews in which he disparaged her.
“I made five calls because this occurred after I had seen [images] and received information …. and learned about statements he was making about me in the media.”

Richards dabbed tears from her eyes, and her voice wavered as she further stated that “uncovering this information alone was terrifying for me.”
Richards informed the court that she had “diligently built her public image.”
“I was utterly devastated that he persistently made such scandalous remarks about me, attempting to dismantle everything I had built,” Richards expressed.

The performer stated she was attempting to reach him to implore him to “please cease.”
She further commented, “This has been tough on my daughters, particularly concerning my nude photographs.”
“[I am] mortified and humiliated that she witnessed all of it,” Richards remarked regarding her daughter, Lola Sheen, who is 20 years old.
Richards asserted, “[Lola] was unable to attend church.”
She mentioned she felt “compelled to contact [Phypers]” to make him discontinue his actions. Phypers participated in multiple interviews following their separation. Richards suspects he supplied media outlets with her nude pictures, though these images were not disseminated.
Richards additionally discussed Phypers and his family's continued occupancy of her previous matrimonial residence.
“They have resided there for an extended period. This constituted a significant issue in our union. I cannot continue making monthly payments,” she stated under oath. Richards claimed they had promised to vacate for two years.
Upon being questioned about why she did not report to the police after Phypers allegedly struck her, Richards replied she was “frightened” and intended to shield him.
The actress explained she avoided seeking medical attention for her wounds out of fear “they would inquire about how I” sustained them.
Richards further stated, “I believed they would realize, and I didn’t wish to cause Aaron any difficulties.” She mentioned she “concealed it” from her daughters by donning sunglasses.
She subsequently confessed to attaching an Apple AirTag to Phypers’ vehicle because he had warned her “something perilous would occur and I would vanish.” She indicated her desire to monitor his location.
Phypers, too, provided testimony in court today, refuting all claims of mistreatment. He disavowed ever physically harming Richards or inflicting any wounds upon her. Phypers also asserted he never informed his former partner he intended to make her “vanish.”
