Diddy's Children and Ex-Partners Submit Character Letters Ahead of Sentencing

Diddy's Children and Ex-Partners Submit Character Letters Ahead of Sentencing

Ahead of his forthcoming sentencing, Sean “Diddy” Combs received character letters from his children and multiple former romantic partners.

The 55-year-old music executive, whose reputation has been tarnished, is scheduled to receive his sentence on Friday, October 3. This follows his conviction in July on two charges of transporting individuals for prostitution. (Combs maintained his innocence against all accusations, and was found not guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.)

“This predicament has proven profoundly difficult for our entire family,” expressed Diddy’s 19-year-old daughter, Chance, whose mother is Sarah Chapman. “Our home doesn't feel complete without his presence. We long for him daily, and I understand his strong desire to be with us and confront this challenge responsibly. Several of my siblings are without their mother and are now also lacking a paternal figure. His absence is deeply felt, and his presence is crucial, particularly at this time.”

Each of Diddy’s six older children submitted statements supporting him, alongside his mother, Janice Combs, and former partners Chapman, Yung Miami, and Dana Tran. (Combs’ youngest child, 2-year-old daughter Love, is with Tran.)

Since his apprehension in September 2024, Diddy has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. While each charge of transportation carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years, his legal team has requested a detention period of 14 months. Considering he has already served more than a year in custody, a 14-month sentence would lead to his release prior to the year’s end.

Continue below to review excerpts from the character testimonials provided by Diddy’s relatives and acquaintances:

Quincy Brown

Quincy, aged 34, is the biological son of vocalist Al B! Sure and the deceased Kim Porter, who passed away in 2018. Following Porter’s separation from Sure, Diddy formally adopted Quincy, a detail Quincy elaborated upon in his communication to Judge Arun Subramanian.

“My father figure entered my life when I was approximately 4 years old, and he has remained the sole paternal presence for as long as I can recall,” Quincy stated. “He took on the role and responsibilities of a father during a crucial period of my development, in a manner unparalleled by anyone else. He showered me with affection in a way I struggled to fully grasp as a child, a depth of love I had previously only experienced from women in my life. It was, and continues to be, unconditional, secure, and steadfast.”

He further elaborated, “Our mother departed in November 2018. Her loss represented the most profound challenge my siblings and I have ever encountered. I believe it was equally devastating for my Pops. Suddenly, he became our singular source of support. He transformed into our unwavering pillar.”

Quincy finished by expressing his desire for Diddy’s “immediate” release, penning, “In addition to the boundless love and encouragement he has offered my siblings and me throughout our lives, my Pops has consistently motivated us to achieve our desired potential. Now, we wish to stand by him and encourage him to embrace his aspirations for this new phase of his life. He relies on us just as strongly as we rely on him.”

Diddy's Sons Commemorate Father's Day During Trial: 'Anticipating Your Return' Home

Justin Combs

“In his absence, my life has felt unfulfilled. Every morning, I awaken hoping it was merely a bad dream,” stated Justin, 31, whose mother is Diddy’s former partner Misa Hylton. “My father has been present for me throughout my entire life — not solely in a physical capacity, but also emotionally, spiritually, and embodying the profound essence of fatherhood. I recognize the uncommon nature of such a bond.”

He proceeded to implore Subramanian “to perceive my father as I do — not based on media reports, but through the perspective of a son who loves and requires him. I humbly request that you grant him the opportunity to return home, to fulfill the role of father that his children profoundly require, and to persist in his journey of evolving into the man I know he has the potential to be. My siblings and I cannot recover the time that has been forfeited, but we earnestly hope you will bestow upon us the privilege of having our father back in our lives while we still can.”

Christian ‘King’ Combs

“I earnestly appeal to you to release my father from incarceration!” commenced Christian, 27, the son of Diddy and Porter. “He is undeserving of imprisonment, and I believe this with every fiber of my being!! We have endured a year marked by falsehoods, prejudice, degradation, isolation, detachment, and immense familial strain. This individual is my father, and he stands as the finest father globally. He has consistently instilled in me nothing less than the utmost respect for others, the importance of avoiding entitlement, the value of diligently pursuing my goals, and above all, the significance of treating people with affection and benevolence!”

Chance Combs

“I sincerely implore you to contemplate his return to our family residence in October,” Diddy’s eldest daughter penned. “My father has consistently served as our bedrock. Beyond being a diligent entrepreneur, he is also the individual who ensures our well-being and backing. He attends to my grandmother, his aged mother, and he has invariably been present for us, regardless of circumstances. We have forfeited so much time with him over the last year and cannot conceive of him missing any further significant moments in our existence.”

She further stated, “I comprehend the gravity of the current situation, yet I also know my father’s character. He simply requires the chance to be reunited with his family, prepare for future challenges, and manage his legal affairs. Please consider this correspondence my sincere and earnest plea for his homecoming. His presence during the holidays would be a true gift.”

D’Lila and Jessie Combs

Through a shared communication, Diddy’s 18-year-old twin daughters with Porter highlighted how their lives “transformed dramatically” after their mother's passing, and subsequently “crumbled” upon their father’s apprehension. “That day, it felt as though we had nothing left,” they expressed. “Since then, we have been compelled to navigate life through an exceptionally challenging and burdensome period devoid of parental guidance. There’s no mother or father to consult when we experience sadness, joy, exhilaration, apprehension, tension, solitude, worry, distress, or despondency.”

The twin sisters further noted that their father is an “inspirational individual” who instructed them on the importance of contributing to their community. “Our yearning for him is beyond words, and we sincerely hope you will seriously contemplate allowing him to return home to us,” they concluded.

Dana Tran

Tran appealed to the judge for Diddy’s release, enabling him to dedicate more time to their young daughter, Love. “I have endeavored to maintain as much normalcy as possible in her life, but her father's absence has created a discernible impact,” Tran stated. “She frequently inquires about why she is unable to be with him or why her interactions are limited by his current situation.”

Tran ended her plea by requesting the court to “demonstrate leniency” and permit Diddy “to participate actively in our daughter’s upbringing.”

Yung Miami

The City Girls artist (whose birth name is Caresha Brownlee) declared that she “observed — and grew acquainted with — an individual distinct from his public image” during her relationship with Diddy between 2021 and 2023.

“Away from public view, he was affectionate, authentic, affirming, and consistently inspiring,” she communicated to the judge. “He spurred me on, had faith in me, and facilitated my development both personally and in my career. My reason for submitting this letter is my conviction that the court should be aware of the aspect of Sean rarely seen or discussed — the man who invested in others, created chances, set an example, and possessed profound affection.”

Yung Miami additionally recounted one of her “most significant recollections” with Diddy, involving his escorting her to the Met Gala in 2023. “The occasion transcended mere attendance; it encapsulated a greater symbolism,” she elucidated. “Sean has consistently prioritized creating access for Black individuals, ensuring our visibility, voices, and appreciation within environments from which we have historically been barred. That evening served as a reminder that our presence is rightful in every setting, at every discussion, and around every table. He has continually emboldened me — along with countless others — to pursue grander aspirations, exude self-assurance, and never diminish our true selves for the comfort of others.”

She brought her letter to a close with the declaration, “Your Honor … he is a virtuous individual.”

Sarah Chapman

Chapman, mother of Chance with Diddy, affirmed that “family holds paramount importance” for her former partner. “He has not only striven diligently to establish a life for himself and his loved ones but has also regularly contributed to his community,” she proceeded. “Whether through guidance programs, philanthropic contributions (both disclosed and confidential), or simply offering assistance to those in distress, Sean Combs has always demonstrated dependability. He has provided employment for hundreds and has been instrumental in establishing opportunities within the Black community where none previously existed, thereby reshaping limiting perceptions.”

She further stated that Diddy has grown “more composed and abstinent from drugs with improved mental clarity” since being imprisoned, noting, “He has communicated to me his reflections on his past and his plans for future transformations, upon his eventual release.”

Janice Combs

Diddy’s 84-year-old mother requested “clemency” and pointed to her advanced age as a basis for desiring leniency, expressing her wish to “devote her remaining years” to her sole offspring. “Furthermore, I rely on Sean for emotional backing,” she included. “He consistently oversaw my health and welfare. This aspect was vital, given that I have no one else to attend to my needs.”

She ended by saying, “I am uncertain of my remaining time, but I deeply desire to witness him reunited with his children once more.”

Dallas Austin

The music producer characterized Diddy as being “akin to a sibling,” referring to him as a “dedicated parent” for whom family is always the foremost priority. “I am advocating for compassion so he may find healing, engage in prayer, and pursue necessary guidance.”
