Dobrev and White's Wedding Woes: A Clue to Their Split
Nina Dobrev and Shaun White offered clues about their state of mind while attempting to organize their wedding, just two months prior to news breaking of their separation.
On July 7, Dobrev, then 36, shared a TikTok video showing her amidst an incomplete property, accompanied by the caption: "When you’re getting married and building a house in the same year.”
Within the short video, Dobrev mimed the words to the query, “How much do we have left?”
White, then 39, responded by silently forming the words, “40 bucks.”

After a four-year relationship, Dobrev and White became engaged in October 2024.
The Vampire Diaries actress recounted to Vogue in October 2024 that she experienced a moment of "shock" and "froze" while gazing at him, playfully adding that she "blacked out" during the momentous occasion. “He uttered every perfect sentiment. … Ultimately, we recognized that aside from the caviar [Shaun had prepared], we hadn’t consumed any food. Consequently, we opted for Shake Shack and dumplings [from] the Golden Swan.”
Following White's proposal, which featured a five-carat oval diamond from Lorraine Schwartz, the couple, Dobrev and he, felt no immediate pressure to wed.
“My desire is truly to savor this and not accelerate the journey,” Dobrev shared with E! News in March. “We are simply relishing our engagement right now and embracing this particular stage, as a significant portion of your existence involves — you have a boyfriend for part of your life and then a husband for another part, yet the fiancé phase is quite fleeting. It brings such joy to utter the word fiancé.”

Dobrev indicated that her ultimate aspiration for the wedding was for it to be “as minimal and uncomplicated as possible.”
On Thursday, September 11, Us Weekly verified that Dobrev and White had ended their engagement. The duo, who have yet to comment publicly on their split, had last been seen together at a Los Angeles farmers market on August 31.
Several weeks thereafter, Dobrev made a solo appearance at the TIFF premiere of Eternity on Sunday, September 7, notably absent her engagement ring.
“Here’s to Eternity #TIFF,” she subsequently posted on Instagram.
The preceding day, Dobrev shared a cryptic TikTok video discussing the concept of “fixing a man.”
“How do you manage to sleep at night, aware that individuals dislike you?” she mimed in the clip. “Without underwear, just in case they desire to kiss my rear.”
The recorded audio then proceeded, “What guidance do you offer to women attempting to change their man? Pay attention, Bob the Builder, he’s already got ten other women trying to improve him as well, and you all resemble a full-fledged construction team.”
Just before Dobrev’s TikTok post, she had also shared an Instagram photo dump, featuring one image alongside White.
