Dodgers Nation Unites in Heartbreak and Support for Alex and Kayla Vesia
The Los Angeles Dodgers organization and its community have rallied around pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife, Kayla Vesia, following the tragic loss of their infant child.
On Friday, November 7, the team's official Instagram account expressed solidarity, commenting, "Thinking of you all and sending so much love," and amplified Alex and Kayla's poignant disclosure through their Stories feature.
The Dodgers Nation's official presence on social media also conveyed its condolences, posting, "Prayers up to your family. We all love you guys."
The 29-year-old Alex Vesia was absent for the entirety of the 2025 World Series due to what was described as a "deeply personal family matter." (The Dodgers ultimately secured victory in the series against the Toronto Blue Jays.)

"Our little angel we love you forever and you're with us always," Alex and Kayla shared on Instagram that Friday, revealing that they named their beloved daughter Sterling Sol. "Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we're going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her."
Within their social media communication, the Vesias also expressed appreciation to the Dodgers organization for its unwavering backing.
"Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn't be able to do this without them," the couple articulated their thanks. "Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It's brought us so much comfort."
Additionally, Alex and Kayla conveyed their appreciation to the medical personnel at Cedars-Sinai who "helped Kayla and Sterling."
"Every person we came across was truly so incredible," they concluded.

During the entirety of the World Series championship run, the Dodgers honored Alex and Kayla by donning team caps adorned with Alex's jersey number, 51, stitched onto the brim, as a gesture of remembrance.
"I'm new to the bullpen. But Ves, he means a lot to all of us," Clayton Kershaw stated during a press conference held last month. "He's a huge part of the team, a huge part of the bullpen, so we wanted to do something to honor him."
Chelsea Freeman's Response to Dodgers Pitcher Alex Vesia's Personal Situation
Andrew Friedman, the team's president of baseball operations, also conveyed his backing to the pair.
"We just didn't want to have any potential for any kind of pressure," Friedman informed journalists in October. "This is so much bigger than baseball. For us, it was doing whatever small part we could to just 100 percent be supportive."
Alex and Kayla began their relationship in 2019, became engaged in November 2022, and were married in January 2024.
"THE BEST DAY OF OUR LIVES! We couldn't have planned for a better day it was everything we dreamed of and more," Alex and Kayla wrote in a shared Instagram post then. "Very thankful for everyone who traveled and made time to celebrate us! LOVE YA'LL -The Vesias."
Almost a year later, in April, Kayla publicly shared that they were expecting their first child.
An Instagram post declared, "Baby Vesia coming soon, we are beyond excited for this next chapter."
