Dodgers Pitcher Alex Vesia and Wife Kayla's Journey: From Romance to Tragedy
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia’s partner, Kayla Vesia, has consistently been his biggest champion throughout his baseball career.
The couple made their relationship public in April 2019 while Alex was still playing for the Clinton LumberKings collegiate team — and she remained supportive as he transitioned to professional baseball, initially for the Miami Marlins and, subsequently, for the Dodgers.
Alex and Kayla described their January 2024 wedding as “the most wonderful day of their lives” and later announced in April 2025 that Kayla was expecting their first child.
In October 2025, the Dodgers revealed that Alex would be taking a break from the team prior to the World Series due to “a deeply sensitive family situation.” The MLB player later disclosed that he was grieving the loss of his baby girl.

April 2019
The couple officially shared their relationship on Instagram when Kayla visited Alex while he was playing for the Clinton LumberKings collegiate team.
“GAME OVER(literally & figuratively),” she playfully remarked.
After complimenting Alex on his mustache, the athlete responded: “Thank you for traveling a significant distance to watch me pitch!”

Kayla posted a collection of heartwarming photos from the early stages of her romance with Alex, accompanied by the caption: “Nothing feels better than this.”
September 2019
Kayla bid a temporary farewell to Alex before the start of Major League Baseball’s offseason Arizona Fall League for developing prospects.
“My sweet boy is leaving for the AZ fall league today, exciting things are on the horizon & I love being able to watch you perform on the mound,” she lovingly wrote. “Thank you for all the love, assistance & kisses this week.”
Alex expressed his eagerness to reunite in his reply: “Thank you so much baby girl! I can’t wait to see you in a few days! [sic] Thank you for being my rock!”

Alex and Kayla exchanged affectionate messages for their first Valentine’s Day since making their relationship public nearly a year earlier.

“Happy One Year Baby Girl,” Alex wrote. “I can’t believe it’s already been a year! We have created so many memories already! Kayla described the first year of their relationship as “the best” as she pledged to be “right by [Alex’s] side” through both good times and difficult ones.

Days after the Dodgers secured the 2025 World Series, Alex and Kayla announced the passing of their baby girl.
“Sterling Sol Vesia🪽. Our little angel we love you forever & you’re with us always,” the couple wrote via a joint Instagram post on November 7. “Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday, October 26th. There are no words to express the pain we’re experiencing but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every moment we had with her. Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family stepped up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them.”
January 2026
Kayla returned to social media after Sterling’s death, sharing that she and Alex are “trying to cope.”
“Every day is so different for us, and I don’t really have the words,” she said in a tearful TikTok video. “I share a lot of Alex and I’s life on here [and] it just felt right to come and say thank you. I am really grateful for the community of you guys just expressing your support and love for us. It really has brought us a lot of comfort during this.”
According to Kayla, she hoped to share more about her grief journey in the coming months.
“I don’t want to come on the internet and cry. I don’t think that’s enjoyable for anyone. I think it will be a good outlet to be able to talk and share, different from me and Alex talking [or us] talking with our therapist. It’s just a different outlet,” she explained. “Right now, I don’t have a whole lot to say, just that I am really grateful for you guys and showing so much support and love to us during this time.”
She added, “Be prepared for everything. I was prepared for whatever was going to happen. I wasn’t prepared for not taking my baby home. … I don’t know what the [new] year will bring. I’ll slowly be getting back on here. Love you guys, and that’s about it for right now.”
